Are They Really Interested in Curing Your Acne?

Let's face it, there are many skin care companies researching, designing and finally creating skin products for us customers. These companies spend million of dollars in research and developments and they hire lots of people with expertise to work for them in order to bring us the latest and most technologically advanced products that can help us in some ways. Be it that you need a cream to fight wrinkles or a solution for skin discoloration you will find it. The price may vary from a few dollars for a basic cream that relieves dry skin to a thousand dollars or more for an anti-aging serum. A press release from the United Arab Emirates last month showed that Cosmetics and skin-care-products are a multi-billion-dollar global industry. We are talking about a lot of money here! The industry is involved in skin tightening, body contouring and the latest in cosmetic dermatology which incorporates acne disease, acne scar removal, etc. These are topics that concern both genders alike, as the concept of the perfect skin appeals to all.

If the skin care business represents more than 37% of total natural personal care sales in the world, and grows at a rate of 18% annually, they must be doing something right! They must have some happy customers, actually lots of happy customers who keeps on buying these solutions for acne removal, or the teenager with acne who has done laser surgery to fight acne, etc. We keep on hearing lots of testimonials from well known actors about skin products that will make your skin smooth and make you look young. A few of these actors may be doing it for the money mind you, but there has to be some of them who really believe in the product they are promoting, aren't there?

I was reading about Reba McEntire, the beautiful queen of country who gave her testimony about a product that keeps her looking young, and she does look young. she said that she has been using a nightly makeup removal and an herbal facial cleanser for the last 16 years and she has tried other products but she like this particular brand the best. Since I am interested in acne products and acne treatments, I wanted to see if there were any satisfied acne customers; I saw people giving the thumbs up for product clearing "monster zits", "acne breakouts", "large whiteheads", etc. Wow! These products do actually work!

The sceptical in me still wanted to see how many unhappy customers there were out there! Well, the good, the bad and the ugly is, a vice chairwoman of the dermatology department at a well known State University said that patients who were suffering from serious acne who tried a popular acne removal brand (You know the one I am talking about) were unhappy with the results and sought prescription treatments instead. She also said "You can get the same amount of benzoyl peroxide at a drug store at a fraction of the cost and it will work as well, provided that you use it." You have to realize that some of these marketing companies are cleverly motivating consumers to trade up from a $4.99 drugstore product made with the antibacterial agent benzoyl peroxide, to a 60-day, three-part regimen, also made with benzoyl peroxide, that costs $39.95 for ongoing subscribers. The brand now has more than five million active customers and annual worldwide sales of about $850 million, 70 percent of which are in the United States. We have to be smart about the way we treat our skin and our acne condition. If a product does what it says it would, by all means use it, but don't fall prey for a product and spend your hard earned dollar for a knock-off product just because it is marketed by a beautiful actor. You must do your due diligence and be well informed before feeding your weekly wage into a huge industry full of good quality products and equally full of good marketers.
