Acne Treatment Tips That Work

Acne is a universal skin disorder afflicting millions of people irrespective of age, colour or background. It is estimated that over 85% of people will get acne at one point or the other in their life time.

Though not life threatening. its impact and effects is harshly felt by its sufferers the world over. It is especially devastating for teenagers who are very concerned about their physical looks and appearances. The prevalence of acne among teenagers has been linked to the huge hormonal changes in their body at this stage of their lives.

The increased secretion of the sex hormones called androgen stimulates the over production of skin oil called called sebum which in turn mixes with skin bacteria to cause inflammations like blackheads or acne.

Apparently in a bid to remove these acne spots, many people embark on the dangerous act of acne popping or picking. This will only make the acne worse by leading to acne scars.

This is because the dirt on your fingers can easily be transferred to your skin pores that are open. And these acne scars are difficult to treat. so avoid picking your acne.

Can Acne Be Avoided?

The answer to that question depends on the underlying factors behind your acne flareup.

If your acne is due to hormones, it may be more difficult to control.

However if it is due to other factors like use of birth control pills, stress or diet, then it can easily be avoided and treated.

How can acne be Controlled

Avoid oil based body creams and lotions

Avoid any substance or chemical that will cause skin irritations.

If your acne is caused by the use of a particular birth control pill, then avoid that pill altogether.

Avoid stress and any diet high in sugar

Do not scrub your skin in a bid to "wash way" your acne. this will only worsen the situation.
