Free Acne Treatment Review - Proactiv Deluxe System

I have always had problems with my skin, and in my search for an acne treatment that works I've tried many products, some cheap acne creams, some expensive and some even prescribed by my doctor. After seeing the press surrounding the Proactiv deluxe system, I thought I'd take up their offer of a free acne treatment trial.

The deluxe system comes with three separate products. The first is a medicated renewing cleanser and contains benzoyl peroxide, a common acne treatment. The product is said to quickly penetrate the acne pores and therefore start destroying the bacteria that causes acne straight away. The Proactiv cleanser also exfoliates to gently remove dirt, oil and dead skin cells. This stops your the clogging up.

The second product is a alcohol-free revitalizing toner. This serves to remove impurities and excess oil from the skin to leave it clean and soft, alleviating that dried out feeling you often get with acne treatments.

The final product is designed to repair the skin through the use of a light medicated lotion that penetrates deep into clogged pores. This is perhaps the most interesting Proactive product for me as I have a few acne scars and spots that I want to clear up.

Well, after using the free samples for around a week I can definitely notice that my skin is much clearer and smoother feeling without being over dry, which is often a problem associated with such treatment. Even at this early stage my existing acne scars look to be somewhat reduced. I use the system twice a day and as directed in the packaging instructions, although sometimes I have only used it at night before going to bed. In my opinion you have to use all three steps to get the correct results. I have been temped to try the extra strength products as I have been so pleased with the results from the standard range, I'm just a little concerned that it won't be as gentle as the regular formula. Maybe if you've got a severe acne problem then the stronger products might be if use to you. There is also a lighter range for those with mild acne problems.

As a side note, I've noticed that having a low carb diet seems to help my skin stay clearer and keep the terrible acne under control. Also, don't forget sun protection for your acne, although you should use it regardless of whether you have spots of not (Proactiv do a sun protection range for acne sufferers). Other things which you should do to supplement and help your treatment is to drink plenty of water each day (and just water, not mixed in with anything else) and also to avoid stress wherever you can. I know it's difficult in modern life but try the best you can.

I hope this article has been useful and you have enjoyed my Proactiv deluxe system review. Hopefully you will now have the confidence to try some of these products for yourself and get rid of those acne spots for good. Thanks for reading.

Acne Scar Removal - Scar Treatment

Naturally... If your acne scars are not that deep or that numerous you should consider organic home remedies as top acne scar removal priority. They work well and best of all, they are cheap!

Lifestyle change is key. Acne breakouts happen because of stress, bad eating habits, lack of sleep, oily make-up and harsh astringents. All irritate and clog the pores which cause acne in the first place and interfere with the self-healing process.

Load up on water and lemon juice. Water has regenerating properties; it works for acne scars because when your fully hydrated dead skin cells shed off faster and new skin grows soft and smooth. Lemon juice amps it up because it contains citric acid which also sheds dead skin and promotes skin elasticity. Both water and lemons works as a great team for acne scar removal with added benefits of great skin.

Look for Rosehip seed oil. This is a popular additive in cosmetics because of its ability to rejuvenate skin. This is even used on surgical scars and mild burn marks. You can get the full effect by getting pure Rosehip seed oil in your local beauty shop and applying it to the problem areas twice a day and before you go to sleep.

With creams, peels and lasers...

Buy Creams. Over the counter creams work best if your acne scars aren't severe, they're at the cheapest end of the technological treatment spectrum. Be patient and solicitous in its application for at least a month. Creams work best when dealing with pigmentation after the acne breakout. You are most likely going to see results after going through two tubes of acne scar removal creams. Look for natural active ingredients in the cream you choose.

Consider Chemical peels. They work by stripping off the top layer of the skin and stimulating the collagen underneath to grow healthy new skin. However, after the initial bout of treatment your face might be blotchy and a little raw while the new skin hasn't completely grown back in yet. This is not something you can do at home so make sure your dermatologist is licensed and competent. The effects are seen after a week and patients report that after a chemical peel their acne breakouts have become very rare.

Undergo Skin lasers. Such procedures are extremely effective and should be the first consideration if your scars are particularly severe. They are safe and have the most visible immediate effects. Acne scar removal is usually done in sessions. Initially the laser-ed parts of your skin will look red and be a little uncomfortable when touched, but when your skin heals after a week or less it looks good as new.

Acne Scars - Explanation and Treatment

Acne scar tend to effect multiple locations around your body that are usually exposed to the open atmosphere. Face, chest and back are the locations that are most affected by this abnormality because these are exposed to both dust and secrete more oil then any other part of the body. These scars do not affect a certain age group of people yet are distributed amongst all the different age groups. For most of the time, you can get rid of the acne as well as the scar with the normal treatment, yet there are conditions where the scar leaves behind after the treatment to acne is done.

Acne scar cause discomfort to the people no matter how light or intense the issue is because the aging marks give a very odd impression causing your confidence to loosen up a bit. These scars also contribute in the loosening of your skin at early times causing loss in elasticity.

These scars are of two types mainly: one that is caused by increased tissue formation while the other is result of scars by loss of tissues from the skin surface. The increased tissue formation scars are the type that occur in you through the genetically transformation of this abnormality. The increased amount of collagen in the skin results into the excess formation of tissues that accumulate forming a scar ultimately giving a very odd look to your skin.

Other type of acne scars is the low tissue formation scar and this type is more common amongst people. These are further of several types that might be superficial or deep in terms of their nature. These scars are usually having a base that is wider then the visible scar on the skin surface. The low tissue formation scars might seem like chicken pox scars that are having colors either red of blue.

The treatment of these scars is another issue to all of them encountering the trouble. There are two possible measures that you could take in order to enhance the state of your skin removing the scar or improving it being the first of them. The other method is to give your skin a complete revitalization.

The removal of scars is a comparatively reasonable way to resolve the issue. You can get this at the first place by using the chemical peels that make the skin around the scar dead so that you can remove it. Another renowned way to do the job is to do the laser based resurfacing of the affected areas to get rid of it.

Who Needs Acne Scar Removal?

Acne can leave lasting effects on your face and body in the form of scarring. Acne scars can be embarrassing and unsightly. Men most often suffer from acne scarring. Therefore, they are on the search for acne scar removal procedures that can safely and effectively smooth out their skin. Acne scar removal treatments have improved in recent years and can reduce the majority of scarring.

Many people wonder why acne leaves scars in the first place. Why do some people have acne and never have scars while others have a face full of pits? First, think about how people sometimes improperly deal with their acne. They pop their zits which causes the zits to bleed. Your body creates a scar as a healing mechanism. If your body didn't produce a scar then your face or affected body part would not stop bleeding or heal.

The scar is composed of granulation tissue. Your epidermis then grows over this granulation tissue. Your body then relies on an enzyme called collagenase to gradually remove the scar tissue by chipping away at it for years. For many people, this makes the scar go away for good. However, some people do not ever reach this stage. The acne scar or residuals of the acne scar remains.

Are all acne scars the same? No, there are five main categories of acne scars which include pitted, keloids, ice pick, hypertrophic, and discoloration scars. Let's take a look at each type of scar in more detail.

1. Pitted acne scars are wide and shallow. They can be about half the size of a dime in width.

2. Keloids are dark, thick, and raised. They are a tumor that is the result of a genetic predisposition. Basically, the body is producing too much scar tissue. This type of acne scar tissue is especially of concern for black skin.

3. Ice pick acne scars are narrow, but very deep. They have sharp edges. They are usually the result of cystic acne. Ice pick acne scars are often referred to as deep pock marks.

4. Hypertrophic acne scars look like raised welts. The body produces an abundance of fresh scar tissue. This type of scar is often associated with wounds.

5. Discoloration is not exactly a scar, but it can be as embarrassing. Discoloration from acne can appear as red spots on white skin and dark spots on dark skin.

What acne scar removal treatments are available? You can undergo chemical peels, dermabrasion, bleaching, and injecting collagen. Which acne scar removal treatment should you choose? It depends. Bleaching is commonly used for discoloration while collagen is used for ice pick acne scars. You should meet with your Dermatologist to determine which type of scar or scars you have. They can suggest an acne scar removal plan that best meets your needs. They will show you how to prepare for the treatment and what to do during and post treatment. The one thing to remember is that acne scar removal can greatly improve your skin, but will most likely not make it picture perfect.

Options For Those Seeking Acne Scar Healing

Millions of people all throughout the world deal with the condition of acne. This skin disorder is not a minor problem. It can present a disfigured appearance that is painful both mentally and physically. Acne is known to afflict the entirety of the body but its presence is most common on the face, chest, and back. When an outbreak on the face occurs, the problem can prove to be severely difficult to deal with because it is so visible and the skin is so delicate. Thankfully, most acne lesions heal without leaving an permanent scars. Then, there will be those instances where acne healing is problematic and extra steps and treatments must be taken to resurface the skin. The goal here is to eliminate all scarring.

Acne is known to come in different forms. It can emerge as a blocked follicle that turns into a whitehead or a blackhead. In some instances, acne can emerge in the form of a cyst and/or an inflamed lesion. These cysts and lesions can form deep under the skin. Upon healing, these lesions and pimples can leave behind scars and marks. The traditional form that this takes with be bright red spots on the skin that will end up fading over time. Such scars are not permanent but it may take upwards of a year for the scars to disappear. Acne scar healing requires an extended timeframe for the skin to rebuild itself.

Any acne scar that remains on the skin after one year is generally a permanent scar and will need dermatological treatment to fix. Because of this, it is highly advised that you take the steps to properly promote acne scar healing while the scars remain fresh and can be effectively reversed. Probably the best way, however, to deal with acne scars would be to prevent their breakout in the first place. In doing this, you will not have to fear the development of acne scars.

Because acne is the most prevalent skin ailment in the USA, it can seem inevitable that you will deal with an acne flare up at one time or another. In order to promote scar healing, you will need to keep your skin as healthy as possible. That means you have to limit the amount of damage done by the sun. Sunscreen should always be applied on the skin. This is doubly true of the face as this will boost the health and resiliency of the skin. Skin that suffers from sun damage will not heal quickly.

Common topical medications along the lines of retinoids will expedite the recovery of damaged skin. Upon noticing an acne scar, its important to see a doctor and ask for a prescription for Retin-A since it may aid in dulling the scars and promote acne scar healing. Permanent scarring may be prevented using this topical solution. On top of all this, there are other skin products such as alpha hydroxyl and beta hydroxy acids known to help as well.

Upon the formation of an acne lesion, a great temptation will arise to peel off the scab when it is visible on the face. This is certainly not advised because tearing off a scab as opposed to letting it fall off on its own will damage the healing process on the skin. The end result of this would be an extension of the amount of time it will take for the skin to naturally heal. Additionally, a permanent scar could develop as a result.

If a permanent scar does develop, do not panic. A dermatologist can generally eliminate scars when they are small ones.A common method that is employed would be dermal filling which is a procedure involving the injection of a substance directly into the scar. This is done to raise the scar out and bring it up to the level of the surrounding skin. Another method frequently employed would be punch excision which is designed in a manner similar to punching cookie dough. Basically, you would punch out an old scar and allow a skin graft to be performed where the old scar was removed. All the skin is sutured together or the skin graft is affixed. This leads to the development of a new scar which will allow the blemished skin to fade away as the new scars heal.

Laser resurfacing has grown greatly in popularity as it is a treatment designed to promote the healing of acne scars. With such a process, a top layer of the skin will literally be burned away. When the burn heals, new skin grows over the scarred region. In order for the new skin to form properly, proper care is needed. With such care, healing will be likely to occur in the proper manner. Dermabrasion is another common method where the top layer of the skin is removed with a rotating wire brush. Such a method can make scars a lot less noticeable and removes surface scars while making deeper scars less apparent.

It is fairly obvious that some of these methods of acne scar healing can be involved and intense. They can also be somewhat costly. Because of this it is important to maintain the health of your body to a great extent. This will decrease the potential for the acne to develop in the first place. If it does develop, it will (hopefully) heal quicker and in a more complete manner leaving fewer scars.

It is possible to learn how to maintain healthy skin and prevent acne through seeking advice from a quality healthcare provider. The purpose of the treatment would be to bring the entire body into balance and improve your overall health. This will differ greatly from traditional medicine that has a tendency to treat symptoms as they occur while neglecting to find the underlying cause of the acne breakouts.

Maintaining a healthy body along with healthy skin allows you to maintain a glowing complexion that is in concert with expedient acne scar healing. This will allow you to avoid many of the common problems associated with severe acne such as the impact it will have on your self-esteem. You can also feel confident that you can avoid costly acne skin repair when you take the steps to maintain a healthy lifestyle through proper holistic body care.

How Do I Get Rid of Old Acne Scars?

Having acne isn't something anyone is happy with. What is even worse though is that for some individuals the signs of it linger long after it has gone away. This is in the form of acne scars. They can be very minimal or they can be very evident which will make a person self conscious most of the time.

How do Acne Scars Form?

Acne scars form after the breakouts have cleared up. Some individuals worry that they have scars right away. This is because they redness and indentions from acne can last for up to six months before they go away on their own. If the area remains that way for more than six months it should then be classified as a scar.

Sometimes too much new tissue forms around the area though and that too can result in scarring. So there has to be a balance because too much or too little of the tissue can increase your chances of scars remaining.

Types of Acne Scars

Acne scars are classified according to which category that your recovery fell into. Those that are caused by too much tissue are known as hypertrophic. Generally there is too much collagen being produced. Those caused by a loss of tissue are often smaller in both diameter and depth. They are often called ice pick scars due to the small indentations that they leave on the face .

Avoiding the Development of Acne Scars

It is important to remember that your face consists of live tissue. So when it is damaged due to the acne outbreaks it may not recover fully. Doing all you can to make sure it heals well is important. For example you need white blood cells for the live tissue to recover. Eating right will help you to continue to have enough of them in your body to avoid acne scars.

It is best to keep the skin clean and to pat it dry after washing it. Excessive rubbing can result in the skin becoming irritated. That can lead to the development of acne scarring as can squeezing and touching the inflamed area of skin. Do your best to treat the acne as soon as you can. The less severe that the outbreak is, the less likely you will end up with scars from it.

Tips to Remove Acne Scars

Should you find that acne scars do develop though they don't have to be permanent. There are some ways in which you can reduce the look of them or complete remove them. It will depend on your skin type, the severity of the acne scars, and how long you have had them.

Avoid the various over the counter products that tell you they will eliminate them though. Instead you will need to look towards technology to help you. The use of a laser to stimulate the skin that has been scarred seems to be very effective. However, it is also expensive and it can take many sessions before you see results.

Injections of collagen into the skin as well as microabrasion work well for ice pick scars. These methods also require several treatments over the course of time before you will see results. For more severe types of acne scars skin surgery or grafting may be necessary.

How do I Know Which Treatment is Right for Me?

Since there are many issues that have to be addressed, you should have a professional decide which treatment options will work best for you. Acne affects many people. Most of them are teenagers, affected by acne because of hormonal imbalances that lead to exceed of sebum, which combines with bacteria that produce acne, a bacteria that normally lives in our body but in this moisturizing environment flourishes and after clogging pores acne appears.

Combining topical treatments (like gels, solutions and lotions) with internal treatment (orally treatment with pills) is always the best solution in healing acne if you suffer from moderate or even severe acne. First you must try a home made remedy, try also to eliminate the factors that produce acne (like diet, stress, sleep, hygiene, exercise) and after that if your skin condition is not improve you must take in consideration to go to a good dermatologist to prescript a good acne treatment according to your skin type and to acne type (mild, moderate or severe acne).

8.-Summary

Concept

Acne is an inflammatory skin condition characterized by skin outbreaks around hair follicles. It is a common disease that mainly affects adolescents, but can also affect adults, especially those between 20 and 30 years of age. In these people acne may appear as different types of acne such as comedones (blackheads), papules (red, hard bumps), pustules (pus grains) and more rarely cysts and abscesses. The lesions are located on the face and less often in the back, chest, shoulders and neck. Acne requires treatment and there is no need to wait to for nature to resolve the problem as it is very difficult to predict how long it will take to disappear completely. The treatment can prevent the development of scars or marks, thus improving the complexion of the skin and physical appearance.

Causes

Acne is due to a series of hormonal changes that occur during adolescence. During puberty, sebaceous glands (located deep in the skin) produce an oily material called sebum caused by testosterone (male hormone). Sebum comes to the surface through small tubes (ducts) and their opening is a pore.

Obstruction of the sebaceous ducts cause it to retain sebum, forming pimples, which can be:

-White or closed

-Black or open (blackheads)

The black colour is due to the action of air on retained sebum in the pores. Sometimes an excess of retained sebum in the ducts and the duct walls swell and burst, dispensing the sebum into the skin, resulting in the formation of red, hard pimples, (internal) or abscesses. Along with this, the sebum is retained in an ideal breeding ground for skin bacteria, causing more irradiation and inflammation.

Other causes of acne, especially in adults are:

- Pregnancy

- Polycystic ovary syndrome

- Cushing´s syndrome

- The use of anabolic steroids

- Keratinization disorders

- Using medication containing halogens, lithium, barbiturates or androgens.

Influential Factors

Seasons: Improvement in summer and worse in spring and fall.

Menstruation: In almost all women acne outbreaks occur with the period.

Menopause: the hormonal changes of menopause can lead to a type of menopausal acne.

Nerves: stress, exams, lack of sleep, etc.. Aggravate acne.

Constipation: aggravates acne or makes it more rebellious to treatment. To avoid this:

- Food should be adequate and varied, based mostly on vegetables and legumes (beets, spinach, cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, tomatoes, lettuce, endive, artichokes, lentils, beans, peas, etc.).

- Restrict the intake of certain foods such as meat, white bread, flour and chocolate.

- Drink large amounts of fluids (1-2 liters of water a day), especially in the morning after waking up (water or orange juice).

- Avoid or reduce the consumption of red wine.

- Avoid sedentary lifestyle, try to exercise (walk or go to the gym before meals).

- Maintain the habit of taking stools at the same time, especially after breakfast.

Diet: Certain foods aggravate acne. The most noteable are: chocolate, nuts and derivatives, milk, cheese, yogurt and other dairy products, foods made with a lot of oil or butter, pizza, beer, alcohol, coffee, tea, spices, too much iodized salt, pork, seafood (shrimp, oysters), citrus, and especially food that has been fried with butter or fat.

Fresh vegetables, fruits, juices and bread help improve acne.

General Measures

-Wash your skin daily to control the excess oil and bacteria that aggravate acne prone skin.

-Facial cleansing.

-Wash your hair frequently and comb it backwards to keep it away from the face. Oilier the hair should be washed more frequently. If you have dandruff you should use an antidandruff shampoo at least 3 times a week, and inform your dermatologist.

-Men with acne in the beard area should try electric and non-electric razors to see which irritates their skin less. Shaving should be gentile as to not cut into pimples, and the blade should be as sharp as possible.

-Do not apply pressure, scratch or rub lesions, because this can increase the damage to the skin.

- Watch diet.

-Avoid using greasy creams.

-Exfoliate once a week to stimulate cell renewal, unclog pores, and remove dead cells and withheld sebum. This produces a smooth skin without blemishes.

Treatment

There are different options for the treatment of acne:

-Prevent the formation of new lesions and heal old ones.

-Topical medicines that dry grease and promote the shedding of skin:

. Glycolic, Salicylic, Azelaic and mandelic acids

. Benzoyl peroxide sulfur

. Oral contraceptives

. Topical antibiotics: clindamycin, erythromycin.

. Oral antibiotics: doxycycline, minocycline, limecycline.

. Derivatives of vitamin A (tretinoin, retinol)

UV Rays

Acne improves with sun exposure, therefore it is also recommended clinical treatment with UV lamps. Patients are advised to receive treatment 2-3 times a week. The treatment can be administered in conjunction with lasers in cases of a great deal of inflammation to prevent scarring.

Acne Scars

Some patients with acne have unsightly scars (pits and red spots), particularly on the face and back. The scars can be improved by a chemical peel performed by qualified personnel.

The peeling is made by applying a lotion with concentrated fruit acids (glycolic, lactic, citric or salicylic) to the face with gauze to stimulate the natural repair mechanisms of the skin. Doing this will give smooth skin, and stimulate collagen synthesis to fill wrinkles and scars. The peelings also help to eliminate pimples and blackheads. The procedure involves applying fruit acid to the face every 1-2 weeks up to 6-8 times. Subsequently, a maintenance treatment should be applied every 2-3 months. There are other treatments for scars such as lasers and capacitive currents (INDIBA) which are completely painless and with no side effects. In these cases, the patient must go to the clinic 2 times a week, for a minimum of 2 months. There is also a procedure called laser - carbon laser abrasion, which is now the most recommended for acne.

Summary

- Wash your face 2 times daily with a suitable soap. After apply the indicated products.

- Avoid certain foods: chocolate or cocoa derivatives, nuts (sunflower seeds, almonds, etc.), Seafood, strong cheeses (Roquefort, Camembert, etc.).

- Avoid the contact of hair and facial skin (bangs, long hair, etc.)..

- Avoid using cosmetics until the acne has improved. It is recommended that you use oil-free makeup.

- Avoid greasy sunscreens. Use formulas with alcohol content, as to not block pores.

- Regularly wash your hair 3 times a week.

- Avoid frequently supporting your head with your hands (passive study, etc.)..

- Avoid conflicting emotional situations such as stress, nervousness and tiredness.

- Avoid skin exposure to greasy or oily environments (kitchens, etc.)..

- Change pillowcases often.

- Develop the habit of caring for the skin, as beauty accentuates your image.

Are You Tired of Acne Treatment Products That Do Not Work? Make Your Own Acne Solution Today!

Some acne treatment products work on some people but they may not work in others. The efficiency of the wide array of commercial acne solution products vary because of our differences in skin type. Some are just formulated for Caucasian skin, others for the dark skin tone, and a few others for Asian skin. Some acne treatment products are also formulated for people who have dry skin, oily skin, normal skin, and the so called combination skin type. Because of the several options we can choose from, not to mention a lot of manufacturers making these products, sometimes it is very difficult to pick the right acne solution for our problem.

How about creating your own acne solution for a change? There are a lot of people who prefer to cure their acne using homemade solutions and they are more than satisfied with the results. One advantage of making your own acne solution at home is that you will save a lot of money as compared to buying chemically prepared products in the market.

If you have oily skin, your pores are always open because they constantly produce oil. The homemade acne solution for your problem is to dip your face in ice cold water, preferably stored in the freezer for two hours. You should dip your face in the water for at least five seconds and repeat the process five times in a row. You can do this several times a day and by doing so your pores will close to prevent any excessive oil production, which is one of the main causes of acne problems.

There's also an acne solution for dry skin that can be done at home which is making your own soap mixture. You will need a bar of soap that is especially formulated for sensitive skin. Put it in a container and pour a cup of boiling water over it. You should cover the container for at least two to three hours or until the soap dissolves. When you're ready, wash your face normally, apply a generous amount of the dissolved soap mixture onto your face, and then let it dry. This will serve as a face mask for your dry skin. When the mask dries up, get a face sponge, dip it in water and use this to remove the facial mask. This twice a day acne solution for dry skin actually brings back the lost moisture in your skin because of the essential oils of the soap.

Acne treatment products for curing zits are also one of the most popular and most expensive acne solutions in the market. You don't have to buy these pricey products because you can make your very own acne solution concoction at home. You just need to mix two teaspoons each of lemon and lime juice plus half a cup of apple sauce and one fourth cup of ranch dressing. Mix the ingredients well to create a thick creamy substance. Use this homemade cream and rub it in a circular motion on the affected zit areas such as the face, neck, or back. Leave it on the skin for about ten minutes before washing it off with a washcloth drenched in ice cold water. Your pimples or zits will be treated instantly because the citrus formulation will dry it up.

How Birth Control and Pregnancy Affect Your Acne - It's Not What You Think

The birth control pill has been a development that has changed the way women live today. It can also lead to pregnancy affect acne which can be quite troublesome.

Just as with pregnancy, birth control pills cause hormonal changes which can affect the skin as well as other body systems. In some women, however, the pill can actually improve acne problems.

Acne often develops during the teen years, as adolescence causes hormonal changes. The hormonal changes drive the sebaceous glands, which are basically oil glands, in the skin to produce more oils. As this sebaceous oil increases, the pore opening of the gland can become clogged. When this happens, an acne blemish appears.

Another cause of hormonal changes which can trigger the body to increase oil production is the practice of taking birth control pills. It is quite common for a woman using this form of contraception to experience acne outbreaks. These outbreaks may be quite minor or rather severe.

When a woman becomes pregnant, her hormone levels again change. The normal changes to the female skin caused by the pregnancy can cause acne to appear.

Birth Control Pills Can Control Acne For Some

Few people would ever consider that birth control pills can actually act as an acne treatment! However, in some cases, oral birth control pills reduce or remove acne problems and also provide menstrual regulation and even relief from menstrual pain.

The trick is finding the right hormonal balance for each female. The birth control pill that results in less acne for one woman may cause another woman to experience more acne. So, it is a trial and error method that must be directed by your doctor or gynecologist to locate the right birth control pill to reduce acne.

Because different brands of birth control pills have different levels and combinations of hormones, a qualified health care practitioner can help a woman find an oral contraception choice that reduces acne.

If acne increases, the doctor will suggest that the woman try another brand of birth control pill until a hormonal balance that provides the most positive side-effects such as reduced acne is located.

The general guidelines followed by health care practitioners for prescribing birth control pills include overall general good health, a patient who is at least 15 or more years of age who has already begun menstruating, and who has already selected the birth control method of oral contraception.

The FDA has approved Ortho Tri-cyclen as one of the brands of contraceptive pills that can be used by doctors to fight acne problems; there are several other brands which provide this benefit as well.

Because use of birth control pills has the potential for certain side effects, some of which can be quite series, this method of controlling or treating acne is usually prescribed by a doctor only after all more traditional treatments have failed.

Acne and Pregnancy

Often, women who become pregnant experience increased acne. During pregnancy, many changes are occurring in the mother's body. The levels of certain hormones, especially estrogen and progesterone, change dramatically.

Progesterone, a hormone much like the hormones in the male body, takes on very important roles as the baby grows and develops in the mother's womb. The increase of progesterone during pregnancy may cause sebaceous oil glands to increase production and this can result in clogged pores and acne outbreaks.

Not every woman who gets pregnant will experience acne, but many do. In fact, some women who have never experience acne at any time of their life previous to getting pregnant may suddenly develop acne blemishes because of the changes going on in her body as her baby develops.

During pregnancy, if acne appears, the woman should accept that this is a passing problem that will clear up after she delivers her baby and her hormones return to pre-pregnancy levels. During pregnancy, it is important to seek the advice of qualified health care practitioners before using any acne treatments other than good skin hygiene.

A doctor can offer treatment options that will not harm the developing fetus. During pregnancy, be sure your doctor is well aware of every medication or treatment, even over-the-counter products that are used.

Usually, after the baby is delivered, the acne problem which appeared during pregnancy will clear up as the new mother's body returns to pre-pregnancy hormone levels.

If the acne does not go away by practicing good skin care, you should talk to your doctor or dermatologist to seek treatments that are safe to use which will help control the acne.

Homemade Scar Removal - An Alternative, Inexpensive Way of Getting Rid of Scars!

I hate putting myself down, but I have to face it: I'm not one of the luckiest people around. As a youth I was riddled with acne pimples, most notably on my face; I always though I was somewhat rejected by everyone on account of my spot faced looks; but all the while, I assumed that as I grew over, I'd eventually get over such problems. Well, the good news was that my acne troubles did fade with time... the bad news was that soon enough I was faced with another issue that was just as annoying: lingering acne scars.

A few months ago, I decided I'd take hold of my destiny and change my life for the better. Also, I figured that fixing my face would be a perfect start in doing so. Consequently, I compulsively started scouring the Internet for natural scar removal tricks, and soon enough I realized I might be able to fade my acne scars without having to get plastic surgery or outrageously expensive creams (which I couldn't afford, anyway). So I started trying all the natural scar fading ideas I came across, and a few of them actually seemed to help my skin heal itself: most notably aloe vera and honey.

After using these inexpensive natural scar treatments a few times, I did start noticing minor results. So it occurred to me it was indeed a good idea to spend more time further investigating on natural scar removal techniques. I must have read hundreds of pages, but eventually I came across some solid advices. I have learned about no less than 15 natural and inexpensive scar removal products, most of which you can find in your grocery store: vitamin E, tomato, cucumber, lemon, tea tree oils... and that's just to name a few. But I also learned that besides choosing the right products for your type of scar (Acne Scars, Cuts, Scrapes, Stretch Marks, Burns, Facial Scars, Surgical Scars), there are two equally important things to keep in mind:

There are certain complimentary techniques that you should use to hasten scar healing. Some obvious examples are specific massage techniques, as well a silicone sheets... and I also realized I could perform microdermabrasion right from the comfort of my home. Used together with the right products, these techniques will at least double the effectiveness of a homemade scar treatment! And there's a final component that's required to bring about successful scar removal: you'll also need to make some small adjustments to your diet, during the healing process. Most specifically, you'll have to increase your water intake and your Vitamin E intake - since that will further reinforce the effectiveness of the topical remedies / complimentary techniques you're using.

Needless to say, my acne scar troubles are now a thing of the past! And even though my luck hasn't changed yet, I have much increased confidence in myself now, and I'm no longer ashamed to confront the world face-to-face. If you can relate with the feelings of insecurity that come from acne and facial scarring, rest assured there's hope for you! And sometimes finding a natural scar removal system that really works is just a matter of being in the right place at the right time: such as here and now. Keep your faith, and know that you can make a better future for yourself, and know that you can restore your blemished skin.

How to Get Rid of Acne Scars at Home

If you want to know how to get rid of acne scars at home, then you may have suffered with their presence in your life for many years. Unfortunately, as you get older, these scars will only become more apparent as the deeper skin structures of your face begin to collapse.? Your Quick Guide to Facts About Acne Scars

As a registered nurse, I have learned a lot over the years about acne scars, acne scar treatments, and acne scar removal.

Acne is one of most common skin conditions in the world, affecting more than 40 million Americans. Nearly 80 percent of people from ages 11 to 30 years old have acne, most often on the face, chest and back.

But acne isn't restricted to any one age group. Adults who are in their 20s, 30s and even into their 40s can get acne.

Most cases of acne do respond to treatment and clear up without leaving any scars. Healed acne leaves scars in some people however, and it isn't easy to predict who will end up with scars after an acne outbreak and who won't.

Severe, inflamed, cystic acne always leaves scars after healing. And in some people even superficially inflamed acne can result in scarring.

Whether acne scarring is deep or superficial, extensive or scattered, the end result can be less than desirable and even disturbing.

Acne scars can give the skin an aging look. Scars may also contribute to a person looking older than their age as the skin loses its elasticity over the years.

A number of treatments are currently available to remove or improve acne scars. The type and depth of the scars influences the choice of treatment.

Here are some basic facts about acne scars:

Facts about the types of acne scars: Acne scars result from increased tissue formation, response to the inflammation of acne and loss of tissue.

Facts about increased tissue formation: Scars caused by increased tissue formation are caused by a build-up of collagen in the skin. These are called hypertrophic and keloid scars.

Keloids usually are found among several family members. There is a genetic predisposition to form keloids after tissue injury. For example, African-Americans often are prone to keloid formation. Some families also tend to more so, form hypertrophic or thickened scars.

Facts about scars resulting from loss of tissue: Acne scars resulting from loss of tissue are more common than scars resulting from increased tissue formation.

There are several types. They are ice-pick scars, depressed fibrotic scars, superficial and deep soft scars, and atrophic macules.

Ice-pick scars get their name from the way they look. They may be superficial or deep, are usually small and have steep sides like an ice-pick wound. They may be hard or soft.

The soft scars are usually more superficial and the hard scars are usually deeper. The bottom of the hard scar under the skin may be wider than the scar at the surface of the skin.

Depressed fibrotic scars are usually large scars that have sharp edges and steep sides. They look very much like deep chicken pox scars.

Superficial and deep soft scars vary in size. They have sloping edges that merge with normal skin.

Atrophic macules are soft, flat scars that often have a bluish or violet color on white skin due to the underlying blood vessels. These macules tend to fade away over time and become less obvious.

Acne scars are an ongoing reminder of a common skin condition that can cause embarrassment and social isolation. Acne scars can also contribute to the appearance of premature aging.

The good news is that today, there are several types of treatments to choose from for acne scar removal,. See your dermatologist or dermatologic surgeon for the best acne scar treatment for you.

Acne Treatment That's Intrinsic

One multi-billion dollar industry in the US is the acne skin care industry. Most of the products that clear up acne are available by prescription in the skin care industry.

Prescription medications for acne are pretty expensive for most of us. You should try one of the alternative medications for acne if you are one of the people who thinks that those heavily marketed medications are too expensive.

Intrinsic methods for acne treatment are natural or considered "alternative". For acne, there are many intrinsic products. There is just a much lower number, compared to the prescription medications, even though they have worked for thousands of people.

Prescription medications for acne aren't even considered by many people considering acne care. People should realize that they can easily purchase the prescription medications marketed in the world without so much as a fraction of increase on their budgets.

Acne Medicine - From Mild To Maximum

There are a tremendous number of lifestyle factors which could be responsible for placing you among the millions of people who suffer from acne. You may be able to control some of them, like your diet, your skin care regimen, and the levels of stress in your life. On the other hand, you may be genetically predisposed to developing acne, and if so, you may have to spend your time on combating it instead of preventing it. Your dermatologist may prescribe either topical or oral acne medicine or antibiotics. Even with acne medicine, severe acne may take months to clear.

Choosing The Right Acne Medicine

One mistake many acme sufferers make is to panic at the first sign of a flareup and grab the strongest acne medicine they can get their hands on, often spending money needlessly. If you have a mild acne outbreak, you may not need to do anything except wash with an oil free soap because your body's immune system just might take care of the problem in a matter of days. If your outbreaks are severe, seek help from a dermatologist, so you don't aggravate your acne by choosing the wrong acne medicine.

Regardless of why you get acne, as long as you are only afflicted with a mild flare-up, you won't have to resort to any of the harsher acne medicine to relieve your condition. You may, in fact, be able to eliminate a mild acne inflammation without resorting to acne medicine at all.

Let Your Body Do Its Thing

Your body's immune response is perfectly capable of warding off all kinds of minor infections, including the ones which result in acne. You may find that your acne simply disappears spontaneously after three or four days, as long as you are careful to wash with a mild, oil free soap twice daily and protect your skin from any substances which might cause inflammation.

Acne Medicine For Severe Outbreaks

If, however, you are unfortunate enough to develop an acne outbreak which is both stubborn and painful, you should head as soon as you can to the dermatologist or doctor, and get some advice as to the appropriate acne medicine. Don't take it on yourself to prescribe your own acne treatment regimen if you have severe outbreaks. Doing so may aggravate your condition rather than improving it.

Most dermatologists or doctors will recommend topical acne medicine like benzyl peroxide or lotions to eliminate the bacteria which cause acne inflammation. These acne medicines are usually effective in a matter of days, but if they don't work for you when applied as directed, you may need a stronger form of acne medicine. And that means a return visit to your doctor.

Either Accutane or ProActiv is an acne medicine which requires a prescription, and both are highly effective. You will not, however, be allowed to use them if you are either pregnant or breastfeeding.

For especially stubborn and severe cases, he prescription may be for an antibiotic to be taken orally. Your doctor may even have to resort to draining your acne pimples, and then have you follow up with a course of oral www.mybeautyhelp.com/acne/your-acne-scar-removal-options-60 antibiotic acne medicine. Acne of this severity may linger for quite a while, and it is not unusual to wait as long as two months for it to finally clear.

Acne Scar Removal

If you have suffered from a major acne outbreak, you might have developed some unsightly scars. But don't despair; there are now laser treatments which can eliminate acne-related skin blemished and scarring. Once you have been free of acne outbreaks for a sufficient period, you can approach your dermatologist to see what your scar and blemish removal options are.

Acne - The Causes and Treatment Recommendations

The appearance of spots - black, white or red (open comedones, closed comedones, papules and pustules), usually heralds at the onset of puberty but contrary to popular opinion, acne does not just affect teenagers. It can persist into adulthood. While the condition can very often be a source of mirth and/or ridicule, spots can in fact be both physically and psychologically scarring. Many are constantly frustrated by the length of time it takes for sufferers to find help - very often five to ten years.

Many sufferers have been told for years: "You'll grow out of it". You may, but maybe not before the condition has left its mark. Acne can almost always be successfully treated, but the scars it leaves are less easily dealt with.

Causes: Acne occurs in those follicles that have a large sebaceous gland and a small, fine hair. At puberty there is a marked increase in sebum production because of increased levels of the male sex hormone androgen (also present in women). This coupled with an abnormally fast turnover of cells lining the follicular canal leads to a blockage of the pore which can cause a relatively innocuous blackhead. If the natural bacteria (in particular Proprionibacterium acnes and staphyloccoccus epidermis) then flourish an this hothouse atmosphere they can break down enough sebum into toxic material for white blood cells to be summoned, leading to inflammation and pus.

It is possible for the infection to break through the follicle wall, which is when you get the more unsightly pustule-type spot, and possibly scarring.

Treatment: Wash your face at least two to three times a day to try and remove some of the sebum and excess skin cells which cause the blockage in the first place. For mild cases first try the many over-the-counter remedies available. Most of these today contain benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid which aim to control bacteria and pore blocking respectively - abrasive scrubs are not generally recommended as they are often used too aggressively and can exacerbate your condition.

Dermatologists course of action in moderate acne will usually be to prescribe topical retinoids and perhaps antibiotics, the combined pore clearing and bacterial controlling effects of which can give impressive results. You may also have some of the lesions 'removed' in a controlled, sterile manner. Note: never squeeze the spots at home: doing so can rupture the follicular wall and increase the chance of scarring.
