Acne Scars - 6 Best Treatments For Acne Scars

Acne affects most people in the world. And while some people recover from it without any consequences, some do get permanent scars. Topical medications can treat some mild scars. Most acne scarring are healed with combined surgical procedures, medications and skin resurfacing.

What Causes That Stubborn Scar?

After healing, an acne lesion can leave a red mark or a hyperpigmentation on the skin. This is just a post-inflammatory change and not actually a scar. The redness happens as the skin goes through healing, which usually takes 6-12 months. If no acne sprouts in that particular area, it can heal normally. If it is still present after a year or more, it may be considered a permanent scar.

Acne scars actually are the effects of 2 types of response of the tissues to acne:

(1) Increase of tissue formation

(2) Tissue loss

Acne Scars that are caused by tissue formation are actually the result of a buildup of collagen in the skin. These are most commonly called keloids. Keloids tend to be genetic while scars that are caused by tissue loss are the most common type of acne scars.

What Can Help?

Tretinoin can help heal scars. It speeds up the healing and remodeling of the skin. It also assists in the healing of hyperpigmentations. Aplha-Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) and Beta-Hydroxy Acid (BHA) also helps the remodeling process of the skin. As long as it is appropriately formulated and have the right concentration with the right pH, it will be very effective.

Also, a person should seek treatment for scars either to remove or lighten them. Or maybe the person can include it in the overall procedure of skin rejuvenation.

It is very important for both the patient and the dermatologist to discuss the procedures as to the treatment of acne scars. Choosing a skin rejuvenation process is based partly on the result that the patient wants to accomplish. These are just some of the procedures that dermatologists use to treat acne scars:

1. Chemical peel can treat small to large acne scars and can also be effective when it comes to removing blackheads and whiteheads. Repeated peeling is recommended to improve some extensive or deep scars.

2. Laser or resurfacing of scars is a relatively new technology but can only be effective in some patients. It can be used to treat scars that are complex in nature.

3. Dermabrasion can reach deeper skin layers than a chemical peel.

4. Excision surgery can remove the affected entirely.

5. Soft-tissue augmentation can treat scars that are caused by tissue loss. It involves injections of collagen under the scars which raises them to bring it to the surface.

6. Intralesional steroid injection for keloids on the other hand is a procedure where direct injection is done into the keloid acne scars. It can be mixed with surgery to reduce scar size. This can only be done by a dermatologic surgeon.

It is a good thing that acne scars can be effectively treated nowadays. Now, you can say goodbye to a life with acne.

Effective Home Remedies That Work on Pimple Scars

Sometimes the scars left by acne can cause more concern than the acne itself. Acne scars can leave your face with large pits and open pores that are very visible and difficult to conceal. The best way to deal with pimple scars is to act fast, the longer the acne is left untreated the more likely it is to leave a scar.

Acne scars form because the skin tissue has been damaged. As soon as you form a spot the body will start to repair itself. Your immune system will try to deal with the bacteria and inflammation and your body will start to replace skin cells to repair the skin surface. Unfortunately the body does this in the most practical way it can, repairing the skin is the priority not the cosmetic effect of the repair.

Cystic acne is the most likely type of acne to leave you with scars as the large pus filled cysts place the most strain on the skin. It is important not to pick or try to burst the spots. This will only spread bacteria causing more spots to form and is likely to cause an acne scar as you have damaged the skin surface making repair more difficult.

Instead, try to dry the spot out. You need to reduce the swelling and kill any bacteria. This will help your body to repair the skin. For large individual spots there are two very fast and effective spot treatments you can try

Aspirin. You are not going to swallow the aspirin, you are going to use it as a spot remedy that is used directly on the spot. Crush one aspirin with a spoon, then add a few drops of water so that you form a paste. Carefully apply this directly to the spot. Try to avoid getting the paste onto the surrounding skin. Aspirin contains acyclic acid which is found in some commercial acne treatments. It will kill bacteria and dry out the spot. Leave it on for 15 minutes then rinse off. If your skin shows no reaction you can leave it on for longer or even over night.
Toothpaste is a favourite acne remedy. Apply in the same way as the aspirin cure and again leave for 15 minutes initially and longer if your skin does not show sensitivity. Do not use whitening toothpaste as this contains bleach which could damage your skin.

Both of these treatments are quite strong and should not be used over a prolonged period.

If your acne covers a large skin area you could try milk of magnesia applied neat with cotton wool over the affected area. This will dry the skin and remove excess sebum, it is also mildly antiseptic so will kill bacteria. Allow the mixture to dry and rinse off.

Honey has been used successfully to treat spots and scars. Try adding a little turmeric powder to honey and use the mixture as a cleansing lotion each day. You can also mix honey with finely ground oatmeal and apply as a face pack. This allows the honey time to work and will also help prevent further spots.

The inside of orange skin has also been used to reduce acne scars. Either mash the skin to form a pulp or simply gently rub the skin with the inside of the orange peel.

I started by saying that the body will do all it can to repair your skin. You can help it do this by providing your system with high levels of nutrients. You particularly need to provide high levels of vitamins E and C. Vitamin E is found in many nuts and seeds, almonds hazel nuts and pumpkin seeds are good, and you only need a few each day to get high levels of the vitamin. Both vitamins are found in green leafy vegetables.

Treat the problem from both the inside and the out and you should soon see improvements to those scars.

I have listed a number of other treatments on homeremediesspots.com homeremediesspots.com as your skin is unique it is important to trial a treatment to see if it will work for you then try alternatives until you get the result you want.

The 4 Best Ways to Remove Acne Scars - Can You Name Them All?

As difficult as it can be to deal with the redness, swelling, and pimples that come with acne, it can be even more difficult to deal with the scars they leave behind. Pimples go away with time, but scars can be permanent. If you don't do anything about them, you may have your acne scars for the rest of your life.

So, what can you do to get rid of your acne scars? Well, there are four main treatment methods available. All of them need to be performed by a professional such as a dermatologist or a plastic surgeon. None of them are all that pleasant, so the best thing to do is learn as much as you can about each of them and then decide (with your doctor) which one is right for you.

Here is a brief overview of each of the procedures.

Dermabrasion and Dermaplaning

Both of these methods involve scraping off the top layer of skin. The purpose of this is to allow new healthy skin to replace the scarred skin that was removed. In dermabrasion, the skin is removed with a swirling wire brush. With dermaplaning, a motorized blade called a dermatome is used to skim off the top layer of skin.

Both of these procedures are usually done with the use of local anesthesia and a sedative to control the pain. They can also be done under general anesthesia. Another alternative is to use a numbing spray along with the local anesthesia.

Since the top layer of skin is removed in these procedures, the skin will be raw afterwards. For the first few days, the skin will ooze a clear liquid. Once the oozing stops, a crust will form over the skin. After about a week, and possibly for a few weeks afterward, the skin will appear red, shinny, and smooth.

Chemabrasion

This procedure is much like dermabrasion except it is done with chemicals instead of scraping. The top layer of skin is removed by applying chemicals that cause the skin to peel away. For this reason, chemabrasion is also called a chemical peel. Two of the chemicals that may be used are trichloroacetic acid and glycolic acid.

After the procedure, you can expect the skin to be red and swollen. After the skin heals, the procedure may be repeated if necessary. The depth of the scars will determine if multiple treatments are necessary and really deep scars may not be able to be removed completely, though their appearance will be improved.

Laser Resurfacing

This is essentially a more precise way of accomplishing the same thing as the two previous procedures. As with the others, the top layer of skin is removed so that new skin can replace it. The difference with this method is that a laser is used and it can be very precisely controlled. This allows the doctor to only treat the exact areas that need treatment.

Since this method is so much more precise than dermabrasion and chemabrasion, it is now the preferred method of the three. However, even with the precision of the laser, the skin will still be red and tender after the procedure.

Collagen Injections and Gelatin Implants

These two procedures are completely different than ones discussed above. These procedures are performed by using a needle to inject collagen or gelatin under the scars. The goal in this method is to raise the scared skin. Acne scars leave depressed areas in the skin. When collagen or gelatin are inserted under the scars, it raises the skin in that area up to the level of the surrounding skin making the whole surface of the skin look smooth again.

It is possible for some people to experience an allergic reaction or side effects to the collagen or gelatin. This usually manifests as redness, itching, or swelling. In addition to these side effects, it is also possible for hard bumps to form under the skin where gelatin implants are inserted.

Conclusion

Acne scars can be difficult to treat, but there are options available. There are pros and cons to each method so the best thing you can do is to learn as much as possible about each one. Once you have educated yourself, speak with a professional concerning the best option for your particular case.

Does Mineral Make-up Help Treat Acne & If So How?

Since its advent almost a decade ago, mineral make-up has made a potpourri of promises tempting enough to make any woman at least give this image altering cosmetic a try. One of the benefits headlining mineral make-up is its proclaimed ability to help control acne and hide acne scars.

Certainly, women plagued by a legion of pimples want relief from this emotionally taxing skin condition. However, is mineral make-up the right cosmetic choice for camouflaging and treating acne? Moreover, is there a scientific basis for such claims?

Lets answer this question by reviewing the facts. The primary ingredients of most mineral make-ups include zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Several clinical studies have documented medicinal usages of both minerals, which could also prove useful in acne therapies.

Anti-bacterial and inflammation reducing effects of zinc oxide:

The life of an acne lesion involves a myriad of hormonal shifts, cellular changes and immunological responses within the skin. Amid these molecular activities, the skin works to control the spread of acne aggravating bacteria that provoke inflamed lesions.

Zinc oxide could help enhance this bacterial policing. For example, a study in the European Journal of Surgery found that zinc oxide could actually reduce the bacterial count and limit inflammation in open wounds created on the skin of mice.

Besides expediting wound healing, zinc oxide has proven itself effective at removing facial blemishes as equaling vexing as acne- warts. According to a report in the International Journal of Dermatology, topically applied zinc oxide treated warts better than a combination of salicylic acid (a common active ingredient in topical acne medications) and lactic acid.

The drying effect of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide

Another remedial trait of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide is their drying capacity. Experiments with zinc oxide presented in Skin Research and Technology demonstrated that this mineral has a drying and peeling effect on the skin. Similarly, acne drugs like isotretinoin (also trademarked as Accutane) exhibit a drying and peeling effect on the skin that ultimately helps reduce a patient's acne lesion count and the visibility of acne scarring.

In short, one can attribute much of the potential acne controlling traits of mineral make-up to the properties of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Zinc oxide can reduce inflammation-causing bacteria and encourage increased peeling or exfoliation of the skin.

Heightened exfoliation can counteract deficiencies in skin shedding that lead to clogged pores and more pimples. Finally, the combination of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are drying agents that can absorb excess facial oil secretions. This drying action can further reduce the chances of rancid, hardened oils and clumped dead skin cells blocking the pores and evolving into acne lesions. Based on these facts, testing out mineral make-up to combat acne makes sense.

Chemical Peel & Acne Scars - What is the Best Chemical For Acne Scars?

Chemical peel is a very effective treatment for the treatment of acne scars. It is important to choose the right chemical peel as a lot of peels come with inherent dangers and side effects. However, there are a few peels that can be administered safe at home and at the same time very reasonable in cost.

Severe acne almost always leaves deep scars and ugly looking pits on the skin. When the scars are mild, the natural skin rejuvenation mechanism will take care of removing the scars left over by acne. Every day, our skin keeps on rejuvenating itself by removing the top dead cells of the epidermis and replacing them with the new skin layers below. Mild scars get removed in this process. However, it is a time consuming process and deep acne scars like the ones left over by cystic acne, will not get removed by this method.

Chemical Peeling works by the application of chemicals (usually acid) on the top most layer of the skin. It burns the outer most layers of the skin and the new skin that emerges from below will be free of the acne scars. Some of the most common chemical peels are Glycolic acid peels and phenolic peels.

Chemical peel treatment for acne scars is one of the best treatments to remove the blemishes and marks left over by acne. It can be applied at home or hospital administered depending on the strength of the peel and safety. Hospital administered peels are usually expensive and take a long recovery time. It can cost up to $3000 to get one administered, as it would require multiple sittings and consultation with the doctor/dermatologist.

Glycolic peels and phenolic peels are all acid peels. It will burn anything it comes in contact with. Hence, it is not safe for home administration. There is a risk of additional scarring due to these acids.

The right chemical peels are the ones that are based on a natural formulation without any of the harmful acids and chemicals. They should be approved by FDA for home usage. Skin Culture peel is one such example. It does not contain any acid or harmful chemicals that burn the skin; instead it works by the principle of depriving the outer skin of oxygen. This brings about a very safe and at the same time very effective peeling of the skin to get rid of your acne scars however deep they are.

Acne Scar Removal Treatment - Times Have Changed

Acne scar removal treatment has come a long way in the last few years. What was once reserved for the rich and famous is now available at a cost anyone can afford. You no longer have to hide your face in shame or wonder why you were put on this earth to sport these ugly scars.

The technology and science has changed so much for acne scar removal treatment that now a days and in most cases the entire process can be dealt with in your bathroom at your house. Of course laser surgery and some of the other more expensive procedures are still around but I really wonder why anyone would use them if there are much better alternatives available.

You do still have to be careful. There are very many products that don't work and are just being peddled by people who don't even understand acne or what acne scar removal treatment is all about. There are actually people who could care less about you getting smooth skin or about the pain you went through when you endured your acne at its worst. Deal with the people who care and the people who understand.

Acne scar removal treatment isn't a whole lot different from acne. It's still part of the theory I base acne on and that is the trial and error disease. This means that not everything will work the same on everyone. Everyone's bodies are different and react differently to medications or treatments meant to help with scarring. The key is to be faithful to what you try.

When you choose an acne scar removal treatment don't just write it off 2 days after starting it. It's very important to follow the directions to a T. Once you have done that and still don't see much improvement then yes it may be time to move on to the next treatment. Understand also that no matter what you use even if it does work there is a very good chance the scars will never entirely disappear.

Some scarring, depending on how bad it is can very easily be permanent and it even helped with lasers as an acne scar removal treatment. This is where you need to make a few decisions. Is it worth it to even do anything about the scars and at what point do you stop. Only you can really answer that question and you will know when all times are right.

As an acne sufferer for over 15 years and now working on acne scar removal treatment in a little way I'm glad it happened now. 10 years ago I wouldn't have been able to afford any treatments available. They were reserved for the rich and famous and I'm neither.

When I find a product that works and is affordable I truly like to brag it up. The time has come to do some bragging. Going to my lens at Acne Scar Removal Treatment [www.squidoo.com/AcneScarRemovalTreatment] or a must visit is our website at www.acne-scar-removal.org Acne Scar Removal

Acne Scarring Treatment - The Best Way to Permanently Remove Acne Scars

If you have had severe acne in the past then it can be difficult to accept that even though it is now gone you still have to cope with the scarring that has been left behind. What many people don't realise though is that getting rid of acne scars is possible in most cases and although it may cost you some money the cost isn't as high as you might think. In this article I'll be going through two of the best acne scarring treatment options that you have at your disposable.

Dermabrasion

This isn't the same as micro-dermabrasion although they use a similar technique. Basically, a certain amount of the top layers of skin is removed to help decrease the appearance of unsightly scars. The dermatologist will rub your face with a substance that is similar to sandpaper although don't worry as your face will be numbed during the process. Definitely DON'T try this at home!

Laser Resurfacing

This is probably the best method of getting rid of acne scars but also the most expensive. Of all the acne scarring treatment options it is also probably the most high tech and modern. As the same suggests, a laser is used to remove the top layers of skin so that the scar doesn't show up as much. While it is a relatively new treatment it is very effective and shouldn't be discounted because of its price. However you should always talk to your dermatologist about whether it is right for you.

If these methods sound expensive then don't worry because there are plenty of other ways of getting rid of howtogetridofacnescarsquick.com acne scars! If you want to know exactly how to do so then please visit howtogetridofacnescarsquick.com/guide-to-acne-scars-treatment acne scarring treatment.

Acne Scar Treatment That Works - Finally Revealed

If you're combating an acne problem, no doubt one of the important things that you're focused on is finding an acne treatment. No one wants to have acne and feel the embarrassment that comes with it. What's promising is that we now have some wonderful and very effective options in terms of acne treatment.

With regards to acne treatment, it really all depends on the severity of your condition as to which treatments you ought to be using.

Moderate to moderately severe acne breakouts usually call for the help of a skin doctor and combination treatment process. There are some different therapies that are actually highly effective for moderate to reasonably severe acne, and this includes prescription drugs, physical methods like comedo extraction or light therapy, and over the counter topical acne medications.

Early treatment methods are appropriate for acne, early because otherwise you could get scars that may be very prominent and often extremely complex to get rid of.

Acne Scar Treatment

You have seen the best ideas for acne treatment, but if you have developed scars as a result of your acne, there are other options that you need to consider. After an acne lesion has healed it can leave a red or hyperpigmented mark on the skin.

The best way to prevent post-inflammatory changes caused by acne is to prevent acne lesions from occurring, but this is not always possible and so once you have scars, there are products available that you can use to lighten them or even completely remove them. Vitamin C is by far one of the best things that can be done to treat acne scars.

You can either acquire Vitamin C products, get Vitamin C liquid in a bottle, or utilize vegetables and fruit jam-packed with Vitamin C to your benefit. Crushed tomato pulp on your skin can also be a good source of acids which will help treat the scars, and you need to just apply some gently onto the scars on your face and then wash off soon after a couple of minutes.

These are natural alternatives but there are also prescription topical creams and ointments available that contain medicine and which will work to get rid off your acne scars.

It is clear to see from this that acne treatment is offered, and no matter how serious your condition is you will be able to deal with it properly.

Get Rid of Acne Scars

Adolescence is a difficult stage in life. To make matters worse many adolescents experience the skin condition - Acne. For some people acne ravages their entire body and others get a only a small pimple. Yes, life can be unfair!

Once a person reaches adulthood, acne tends to subside, but not always. For those who are left with the scars of acne from their teen years and those who continue to be plagued with this skin condition - there is hope. It is a procedure called Microdermabrasion.

Why is Microdermabrasion the right choice for acne scars?

Well, for starters, it is easier on the body than other cosmetic surgery techniques such as laser resurfacing. There are no chemicals or traditional surgery procedures required. Usually it is outpatient and no anesthesia needed either. Because there is only minimal disruption to your lifestyle many people opt for this procedure. In addition to acne scars, microdermabrasion is used to reduce signs of aging like wrinkles and fine lines.

What occurs during the procedure?

During Microdermabrasion it is typical for a practitioner to utilize a type of wand with an abrasive surface. There are two varieties of microdermabrasion that are commonly used: crystal or diamond.

The crystal procedure is more traditional. Here crystals are burst onto the skin to aggressively exfoliate old skin. But newer are replacing this mature method. Diamond exfoliation is one such procedure. Here the wand has a tip made of diamond which is rubbed against the skin to exfoliate.

These microdermabrasion procedures serve to remove the marred outer layer of old skin and reveal the newer skin underneath.

Surprisingly, a less powerful form of microdermabrasion can be performed at home with several companies offering home microdermabrasion systems. Trying it at home is a cost effective way to see if this procedure is right for you.

As with any medical type procedure, you should consult with your physician prior to treatment.

Acne Scar Laser Treatment - The Side Effects And The Review Of Acne Scar Laser Treatment Is Alive!

Acne scar laser treatment involves using different wavelengths of light on the scarred areas of skin. The outer layers of skin, where the scarring is, are removed by the laser. This encourages regrowth of the skin cells, which are likely to eventually form unscared skin on the surface. Results can vary depending on how many treatment sessions you have, and the severity of your scarring.

But this type of treatment is known to have some great success in clearing up acne scars. Results may not be entirely noticeable straight away, especially for more severe scarring. The removed layers of skin need time to regrow properly after treatment. After 12-18 months, the skin by then has usually smoothed out the remaining scarring.

The side effects of acne scar laser treatment are very minimal, but the treatment can feel somewhat uncomfortable while it's taking place. It tends to only be mild though. When side effects do occur, it's usually just redness of the skin, or some minor burning which clears up after a week or so.

Also, the skin care professional in control of the laser technology being used needs to make sure that the laser is applied consistently so that the skin does not appear uneven following treatment. This is why it's important to go to someone who is qualified. It's recommended that you get this treatment done at a health care institution, such as a doctor surgery, hospital, or a skin care clinic.

Help Get Rid of Acne By Stimulating Blood Flow

To help get rid of your acne, pimples and cysts, a good blood supply to your skin is required. This has been known for a long time and indeed, hot and cold contrasting baths have been used as a therapy for thousands of years. So, to alternate cold and warm water baths, during a therapy period, it is believed that this will increase circulation to the skin of the face, back and chest. Thus helping clear and heal acne spots, pimples and preventing acne scarring, the most dreaded of acne clinical outcomes. Stimulating blood flow will help treat acne, acne scars and will be useful to add to your existing treatments of acne.

Acne, small pimples, cysts and boils will have damaged the tissues, causing the blood vessels to be torn or damaged. The extent of bleeding, will depend on the tissues involved. Blood will flow out until the vessels are restricted (closed), so preventing further blood leaking into the tissues. It is crucial to stop bleeding into tissues, as the blood may act to increase inflammation, and so must be 'washed' from the tissues before the healing process can properly start.

Just to explain - the tissues lacking nourishment from the blood due to injury will soon die off. These dying tissues stimulate the release, of a chemical, called histamine, causing the blood vessels to open up, thereby bringing increased blood and associated nutrients to help repair the damaged tissues. During this phase of increased but slower and more viscous blood supply, the blood vessel walls become much more permeable and require heat to promote the blood flow.

This is where our hot and cold water therapy can help us.

What you require are two bowls of water, one cold and the other hot, and a few towels.

The use of hot and cold baths is as follows:

Dip one towel into the hot water and apply to the skin for a few minutes
Then pat dry
Dip another towel into the cold water and apply to the skin for a few minutes
Then pat dry

Repeat this process for about five - ten minutes until you see the skin change colour and glow. The whole process can be repeated several times a day. Your skin will feel fresh and invigorated. To really complete the process, then apply a face pack of honey. Your skin will then feel silky smooth and the healing process will be boosted.

Use the hot and cold therapy sensibly and if the skin is sore or broken, then wait for skin to heal before commencing this therapy.

The physiological effects of hot-cold water contrast baths for acne skin treatment have been used for years, but its physiological rationale for enhancing tissue recovery in acne is less known. Most experimental evidence suggests that hot-cold water application helps to reduce injury in the acute stages, through blood vessel opening and and closing thereby stimulating blood flow thus reducing swelling. This shunting action of the blood caused by opening and closing of blood vessels may be one of the mechanisms to removing skin waste products, repairing the skin tissues and slowing/preventing the acne scarring. So, here is a very useful skin healing treatment, please try it, you won't be disappointed.

Night Acne Scar Removal - Astounding New Acne Treatment That Works!

A scar left behind by an attack of acne can be with you for the rest of your life, but if you are lucky you will have treated the acne well in time to avoid scarring. However, many people are not so lucky so thank the stars for technology that now offers them a way to get rid of scars caused by acne. Though the medicinal creams and treatments are not too successful when it comes to removing scars there are ways that skin specialists and doctors are able to remove scars and reinstate the glow to the skin with technology.

The advancements in technology have been astounding, especially so with medical technology. Acne scar removal through laser treatment is a developing procedure and is growing popular by the day. Night Acne scar removal technology was introduced as late as in 2003. This is a technology that can permanently remove acne scars by as much as 100 percent.

The heat energy emitted by the laser equipment is directed at the affected glands and helps tone down the excretion that is the cause of acne. Mostly a painless treatment, the Night laser acne treatment is not meant for all acne patients. Some patents respond to acne laser treatment better than others. Though laser treatment effectively process acne scars it may not be 100% satisfactory for all acne patients, tough someone with lesser than 80% scar removal will rarely be found, if at all.

All acne scar removal laser sessions rarely last over an hour with the treatment requiring 4 sittings at 30 day intervals. This treatment kills the bacteria present in the cells of the skin with the intense yellow light that penetrates deep within the skin cells and kills the infection. The treatment also can be used to treat the cells that are producing excess oils leading the the disorder called acne. Over 50% of acne affected skin was cured completely within three to six weeks of treatment with Night acne scar removal technology. Such is the effectiveness of the treatment.

Night Laser Treatment for acne removal is a dream come true for all those suffering from acne and the scars caused by the disorder. Being a very new treatment the cost is not as yet definite and is expected to stabilize very soon the world over once the technology is easily available everywhere and much more affordable too. In the mean time acne scar removal through the one and only means - laser treatment - can be expected to cost the sky. People with the money to try the treatment are ready to give it a try, such is the suffering many experience from acne infections. It may be early days yet say many skin experts, but there have been no adverse reports of this treatment, which is being compared to laser hair removal technology - it may well be along the same lines with the same after effects - skin irritation for a couple of weeks.

Kick Acne Scars to the Curb

Even small and mild acne can cause a scar and can damage your skin. Pimples can leave acne scars on the skin. In severe acne such as lesions, the acne persists for weeks or even months and leaves visible scars.

The most common types of scars seen among people are:

Ice pick scars
Boxcar scars
Hypertrophic scars
Tips to get rid of Acne Scars:

One important step in acne removal and acne scar treatment is to visit a physician. There are surgical procedures also to get rid of these scars. For this, it is very important that you consult a doctor, who can start acne treatment.

Some more options available to treat the scars as follows:

Punch Omission Here, there is an accurately customized tool made to fit the shape of the scar, which incises or "punches" the scar tissue. Next, the surgeon stitches the wound and allows it to heal. If the wound heals quickly, the scar is also eliminated.

Laser Resurfacing This is a fairly popular and quick procedure to treat acne. Laser resurfacing usually involves the actual burning of skin affected by scars. The new growing skin is much smoother and reduces the appearance of acne scars.

Dermal Fillers This acne treatment does not involve surgery. Here, the patient is given an injection of a dermal filler like collagen, which is directly applied onto the scar site. This acne scar removal treatment is often used on deep scars

Using these treatments, you can easily get rid of acne scars and make your skin vibrant and glowing.

Acne Scar Laser Treatment Procedures - Look Your Best

In any given year, over 40 million Americans suffer from acne. Most people who suffer from acne are teenagers or those in their early 20s, though acne can surface at any age. Acne can result in mild to severe scarring of the skin. A properly performed acne scar laser treatment can help to greatly reduce the appearance of, and possibly even eliminate, acne scarring.

Acne isn't caused by any one culprit. It forms when there is excessive sebum being produced in the skin glands which can lead to clogged pores and result in a breakout. Sebum production is perfectly normal and beneficial, as it helps keep the skin lubricated. However, some people produce excessive sebum that can result in clogged pores. Acne is a common result of that.

An acne laser treatment can greatly minimize scarring, both in terms of size and color. Dark acne scars can be lightened and smoothed out. Laser treatment can even help to minimize the appearance of deeply pitted acne scars.

When a patient goes in to get laser treatment for their acne, they are given a local or general anesthetic to make the procedure more bearable. The treatment itself isn't overly painful. Most patients have described the process as feeling similar to being snapped by a rubber band.

Next a laser or type of light therapy is used to damage the outer layers of skin. This will allow the new skin that is underneath to show through. This healthy skin will be in much better condition than the old top layers of dead skin. During this process, some over-active oil glands may also be damaged. This can actually help to prevent acne breakouts in the future.

Patients should expect to go through a recovery period during which time the skin will be very sensitive. It will need to be treated and moisturized properly to avoid any risk of infection or dryness. The recovery period lasts anywhere from 10 to 21 days on average, but those who have lighter hair and/or skin can expect recovery to take a bit longer.

Acne scar removal is an outpatient procedure, meaning that patients will be able to leave after the procedure is finished. Those interested in acne scar removal should be prepared to spend a bit of money as procedures can vary in cost from a few hundred to over $2000. The good news is that acne scar laser treatment can greatly improve the appearance and texture of your skin and help to prevent future breakouts.

Best Acne Scar Treatment - How to Get Rid Of Acne and Pimple Scars

If you are determined in getting rid of all those imperfections in your skin once and for all, then you are reading the right article. When you're ready to bring out the big guns, then you need to know the best acne scar treatment.

Start with the lighter one of these big guns - Dermabrasion and microdermabrasion. These processes are relatively gentler than the next ones that will be enumerated. However, they are very effective in their own right. Undergoing dermabrasion or microdermabrasion means having the topmost layers of your skin buffed off or exfoliated. At first you will observe your skin to be rough, but after regular follow-up treatments, you can see the results of a smoother and clearer skin because the continuous exfoliation allows the acne and pimple scars to fade faster than you are willing to wait for.

Laser treatment is also a very popular method for those who truly want to get rid of those pesky dark marks. Laser treatment operates by removing the dark pigmentation that has been caused by acne. The visibility of these scars is ultimately reduced to null and some even only need one treatment to get it done. Others need about two or more depending on the severity of pigmentation caused by the acne. Laser treatment has pretty much received good reviews when it comes to the instant visibility of results.

Soft-tissue augmentation may also be considered. This process of tissue augmentation is also called dermal fillers. Because the scars are caused by tissue deficiency, this treatment replaces the lost tissue. Subcutaneous fat may be injected below the scars or artificial collagen in order to smooth out the skin texture and make it look as smooth as before.

For those still unsatisfied with these tips on best acne scar treatment, the heaviest gun is in the form of acne surgery. With the help of a credible and experienced practitioner, you can have your acne scars treated in a more (and literally) hands-on way. This treatment involves minor surgeries and incisions to be done on the area ruined by the scars and directly addresses the tissues that have been damaged. These tissues are treated so as to make the skin look smooth again.

With great power though, comes great expense. These treatments are not the types you can take cheaply so be very careful in your choice. Always choose the most credible practitioners when you want to have any of these treatments done. Do not, in any way settle for cheap treatments because these will usually end up as botched operations by incompetent and untrained practitioners just looking to make a buck out of all the hype.

Scar Treatment Could Be Just Right For You

When the passage way of the oil gland at the base of the hair follicle is blocked, the formation of acne is most likely to occur. Acne is not only a problem for teenagers; the victims can vary in age. It can seriously affect our lives and can even impact the way we look at things. Acne can cause low self-esteem and seclusion due to the fear of embarrassment. It may not be a dreaded disease, but acne can leave marks on your skin and can even cause deformation. For those who have successfully treated acne, they are being challenged by another problem. They need to find a remedy to the blemishes and scars cause by the disease.

Acne scar removal can be quite expensive. Aside from a medical practitioner, it may require a medical procedure as well. Researchers and scientist looked for alternative solution and found an inexpensive way of dealing with acne scars. So, if you have a tight budget, then, Acne home scar treatment is for you.

Bear in mind that the most effective way of taking care of your skin is to wash it with soap and water and by avoiding make-up and chemicals that can harm your skin. Fresh butter milk can be used to wash your face then rinse the buttermilk off with warm water. It reduces the bacteria that thrive in your pores, because buttermilk maintains the pH balance of your skin.

Fresh garlic applied directly to the affected area offers anti-microbial protection and helps heal lesions. Garlic is known for its sulfuric content and may have a burning sensation. Use it in moderation as it may sometimes cause irritation. Get rid of those dried scabs by rubbing your face with dried orange peel. It also helps in stimulating circulation.

Facial masks are made either as moisturizers or deep cleaning agents. Facial masks are applied by covering your entire face and remaining in place for 15-20 minutes before washing them off with warm water. You should always clean your face with warm water before applying the mask to open your pores. Studies show that massaging the face before applying the face mask is relaxing and soothing, but be careful not to overdo it as it may agitate the irritated area.

A facial mask that helps with reducing oil is flour or lentil powder, some says that a dash of sea salt may help reduce inflammation. Add some water to form clay before applying it in the face. You may also add a teaspoon of milk to balance the pH level. A few drops of camphor can bring a cooling sensation similar to menthol. It is a slight anesthetic and antimicrobial agent. Oatmeal is good for skin too, it contains hypoallergenic ingredient that can help soften the skin.

Butter can also be used as facial mask as a solution for dry skin. It can be combined with banana, to reduce inflammation and can reduce wrinkles. Honey, an antibacterial agent, or avocado that reduces age spots and helps in healing sun damage and scars, because of sterolins (plant steroids), it has a strong moisturizing effect that can soften the skin.

Citrus fruits such as lemons are used as astringent while other fruit purees, like strawberries that have alpha-hydroxyl acid that helps in removing dead skin cells. Cucumbers tighten the pores or tomatoes that can help the skin open pores.

Having a healthy mind and a healthy lifestyle will always contribute in acne scar treatment. You can also add different aromas to your facial mask to soothe you and end by washing your face with cold water.

Need to Diminish Acne Scars?

One of the most frequent skin disorders affecting people today is acne. Acne is caused by the plugging up of skin pores so that natural oils can't escape. When the natural oil can't escape to the surface of the skin, that becomes a breeding ground for bacteria. Plugged up pores encourage the bacteria that is already there to multiply. When acne sufferers pick and scratch their pimples, scarring naturally happens.

Once someone's face becomes scarred from acne that has been scratched, it's very difficult to get rid of the scars that are left behind.

These technologies for acne removal include dermabrasion, collagen injections and laser techniques.

It's good that there are a number of medical procedures that can help return skin to its former good looks, but many individuals can't afford them. No one really knows for sure what will eventually happen to skin when it's been treated by some of the harsh chemicals used today for removing acne pits.

Because of the risk of modern medical treatments on scarred skin and the expense, many people are taking an interest in natural means to reduce scars.

The fact that these treatments can be done in the comfort of one's own home is an advantage for those who suffer from scarring. Also, these natural methods not only may help scars diminish but also help the skin to look and feel better.

Treatments you can do in the privacy of your own home are safe and inexpensive.

Most home remedies use minerals, vitamins, herbal extracts and antioxidants, so there are few if any side effects. However, they are not really very successful for severe marks and are used for milder cases of scarring.

These home treatments aren't new, but they've been around for a long time because they have been effective for many individuals for years and they still work today.

Vitamin E is one of the home remedies for all kinds of scars, but it needs to be applied faithfully and consistently for a long period of time.

Here's another remedy: mix cucumber and tomato juice together and place on your scars. Lemon juice may be beneficial if it is placed directly on acne scars. You might want to mash some garlic cloves into a fine paste and then leave it on your skin for about 15 minutes before washing it off.

Place a mixture of sandalwood powder and a little rosewater on your face. Try an oatmeal paste mask on your face.

A little honey warmed up and massaged into your skin makes an unusual and inexpensive moisturizing method for treating acne scars.

Some people find applying egg whites to acne scars helpful.

Most homemade face masks can stay on the skin for about half an hour and some can be left on longer. Then wash them off.

Homemade acne remedies require patience before results can be seen.

If picking and scratching at your acne has left scars, you may never be able to get rid of all of them. Nevertheless, natural treatments may help your scars to improve.

You should concentrate on preventing acne scars in the first place. That's why you should fight the urge to finger your zits and pick them. Living a healthy lifestyle will also help your skin to look better.

Prevent Acne With Exfoliation and Microdermabrasion

Some say you should not do massage or perform microdermabrasion on people with acne. However, in my experience as an esthetician, it is entirely dependent on each individual, their level of congestion, and skin sensitivity.

For instance, heavy massage and micro can aggravate severe inflamed large cystic acne, but this is usually the more rare grade IV level of acne. If you have light to moderate acne then micro treatments can really help improve the skin texture. This works especially well when combined with great products, a good facial, and an added LED Blue light treatment. A light therapy treatment can give your facial an extra kick to help with clearing acne bacteria.

In addition, if you have thin delicate skin, then you may need to be careful with microdermabrasion. It may be appropriate to get a series and then to stop for sometime before trying it again. People with thicker and less sensitive skin can usually do a series of treatments and then continue to come in for maintenance afterwards.

Small Blackheads and Whiteheads

If your skin is not too thin or sensitive, then crystal free diamond microdermabrasion can be great for small areas with dry or oily blackheads. This treatment can really remove a lot of dead skin and then loosen up the pores for easier elimination.

Often some people with acne have a problem shedding dry dead skin cells which hinders detoxification. This is where a variety of exfoliation treatments can help break up the oil and debris in order to detoxify and further allow the complexion to heal.

Dry Brushing for Body Acne

Anyone with skin problems can benefit from dry brushing with a natural bristle brush before showering or getting in the bath. This is a great method to help shed dead skin cells that may be staying on the body too long and slowing detoxification. You can get these online or at most health stores.

Sometimes people with dry skin also need to do this because often the heavy oils from lotions can trap dead skin and decrease absorption and elimination if not exfoliated frequently enough. By dry brushing you are getting out more toxins and increasing your chances of receiving more moisture from your body lotions as well.

For an even deeper removal of debris, I highly recommend investing in a body scrub with salts or clays as the base ingredients. Your skin will feel extremely smooth and overall it will help clear and heal breakouts.

Hypertrophic Scar Treatment - 5 Techniques For Treating Hypertrophic Scarring

There are generally two kinds of scars - hypertrophic and keloid. Scars are considered to be hypertrophic when the damaged tissue heals and becomes a reddish lump that does not overextend beyond the original wound. Though somewhat abnormal looking, these scars heal with time but become permanent in some cases and require hypertrophic scar treatment for removal.

There is a wide variety of hypertrophic scar treatments and it is important to know that no matter which of them is used, scars are never really removed and treatments always leave a trace.

Needling scar treatment

Needling is one of the cheapest hypertrophic scar treatments available. One of its advantages over other treatments is that it can be done at home with special scarring needles under clean and sterile environments. Proper use requires constant needling of scarred tissue to induce collagen formation. First time users are advised to seek professional medical supervision when attempting to needle the face or other vital areas where nerves are located.

Silicone scar treatment

The hypertrophic scar treatment that erases the most traces of scarring is silicone treatment. Typically used by plastic surgeons, silicone gel sheets help to moisturize the scar and even out the discoloration so that it matches the surrounding skin once again. This particular type of treatment has a very low risk of side effects and further damage to the tissue.

Steroid injections

Steroid injection is a common method used in hypertrophic scar treatment. Since steroids cause tissue to thin out, it is injected directly into the scar on a monthly interval until the scar is sufficiently flattened out. Due to the nature of steroid injections, there are certain risks involved in the procedure most especially if the scar to be injected has not completely closed on the inside or is ruptured.

Collagen injections

Similar to certain cosmetic practices, collagen injections can be used as a hypertrophic scar treatment for scars that do not grow out of the skin but rather sinks in. The treatment involves injecting collagen or an alternative into the sunken scar enough so that it rises to the same level of the skin. This method of treatment is short-term, however, as repeated treatments are required to maintain the level of the scar.

Radiotherapy

In extreme cases, scars can be cut out and stitched up or exposed to radiotherapy. These hypertrophic scar treatments are not usually used as it risks opening up new wounds and has long-term side effects.

With the advances in science and technology, new methods of treatment are being researched and developed for treating and removing scars. And with so many treatments for scar care and removal, scars are a thing of the past.

How to Avoid Acne

Acne is by far the most dermatological complaint. It is a skin condition that occurs when tiny holes in the skin called pores become clogged. Some people are more prone to acne than others, thus they are more likely to have acne scars. There are ways to avoid having scars from acne. People with darker skin tones are at a larger risk of developing dark spots from acne. In order to avoid this you need to visit a medical practitioner as he would be the best person to give you acne advice if you needed.

Acne treatment industry does billions of dollars of sales yearly, but the cheapest and easiest way to treat acne, is to avoid getting it in first place. This could easily be done in a variety of ways.

Simple ways to avoid acne

* Keep your face clean. Make it a habit of washing your face at least three times a day. It is an excellent way to avoid acne. Do not scrub hard, as this will only irritate your skin. Softly wash your face well with a mild cleanser, then pat it dry-don't rub.

* Keep your hair off your face as hair has natural oils in them, even if it doesn't appear to be oily. When that oil get in touch with your skin, it can cause an acne breakout. Keep your hair cut short around your face, or use other accessories to hold it off your face. Many people don't realize that this is a way to avoid acne.

* Always eat a balanced diet. This is one of the easiest ways to avoid acne breakouts. Eat plenty of vegetables and fresh fruits, and avoid oily foods. If you notice acne breakouts happening after eating certain foods, avoid those foods, and replace it with something else.

* Drink a lot of water as it is a great way to avoid acne, because it helps to detoxify your body, removing all bacteria and waste that your body doesn't need. Acne begins inside the body, not on surface of the skin, and therefore, it should be treated and prevented from inside.

* Don't pop or squeeze pimples as this would only spread bacteria that causes acne to other areas of skin and would also leave acne scars. Avoiding popping pimples is one of the best ways to avoid acne breakouts in future.

Acne Scar Treatment - Here is the Secret You Need to Know About Keeping Your Skin Flawless

Having acne scars is even worse than having acne itself. Most of these scars may take a very long time to heal and may sometimes leave a permanent mark on your skin. Exfoliation is considered to be one of the best ways to clear acne scars. As an acne scar treatment, exfoliation peels dead skin of the body that also marks the existence of past pimples or acne. If you want to look great in your new dress or simply feel good about yourself, finding the right acne scar treatment for you will definitely be a wonderful experience.

Acne scars are those dark spots or shallow holes on your skin left by the presence of a pimple. Some people do not really mind having acne scars and would rather use makeup in order to hide the blemishes on their skin. For others, however, they insist to do something in order to make their skin look younger and more flawless.

As stated above, one of the most popular methods used in this category is exfoliation. There are specific products that you can use that will be able to help your skin during exfoliation. While some men and women would rather go to their dermatologist in order to have this process done, you can easily find creams or ointments in the market that will be able to aid in the removal of your acne scars.

It is important to take note of your skin's sensitivity and composition prior to choosing the product you use. If you have sensitive skin, this may cause irritation which can result to further damage on your skin. Most products that aid in acne scar removal are very specific in their guides for application. Make sure that you read the manuals carefully before applying the cream or ointment onto your skin. There may be required number of minutes that you should follow during the period of soaking your skin onto the treatment.

If you prefer not to do the process alone, you may also seek the help of your dermatologists. Most skin clinics provide specific processes and treatments in order to fully erase the traces of acne scars on your skin. These processes may take several sessions, but are often safer when compared to applying unknown products on your body. Laser Scar Treatment - The Basics

If you are like 95% of the population, I am sure that you have had to deal with skin injuries and problems like wounds and acne at some point in your life (to say the least). All is good because wounds heal and problems get solved. However, sometimes problems leave a trail of destruction in its aftermath. In the case of skin problems, the aftermath can come in the form of scars.

Scars form during the healing process when a number of factors interfere with the parameters of normal skin healing. Factors such as moisture and collagen content of the skin play a major role in skin healing. Too much or too little of either can result in an outcome which we all too familiar with: scar tissue.

Most scars will heal or diminish through time but there are types that do not (some even get worse!). For many of us, that rough and swollen patch of skin can become a lifetime reminder of that unfortunate accident or skin problem.

The good news is that science has enabled us to increase our understanding of our skin and technology has given us the tools to use that understanding to solve our problems.

Are scars a problem?

Many of us still have that desire to improve our well being through the improvement of physical appearance and sometimes scars on our skin can may cause anxiety and may go against that desire. Thus, in such situations, scars may be considered a problem that calls for solutions.

One such solution is laser scar treatment. Laser scar treatment works by moving the laser along the skin "vaporizing" its top layer to reveal the one beneath which should look more natural which after healing will help flatten and diminish the appearance of scar tissue.

There are also a laser scar removal method where the top layer of the skin is not targeted but the layers below. This is with the aim of stimulating the underlying skin structure to stimulate proper collagen growth. This method is more of an inside out scar treatment method.

During laser procedures, localized or general anesthesia may be used.

There are various types of laser scar removal treatments. One type may be good for certain types of scars but not for others. For example, CO2 and Erbium YAG lasers are most appropriate for scars caused by acne while Cynosure and Candela lasers are more suitable for hypertrophic or keloid scarring.

Laser treatment is not for everyone though so caution is advised especially to those with special skin condition like dermatitis, psoriasis and skin allergies. It is best to ask for multiple opinions from professionals if you wish to undertake any laser scar treatment procedure.

For most people, acne is a problem that comes and goes. Even though it may appear during adolescence and last into their 20s, it is still something that is little more than an inconvenience.

For others, however, acne becomes something that leaves behind permanent damage in the form of scarring. This scarring can take on many different forms, from ice pick scars to waves on this surface of the skin that last throughout the person's lifetime.

Although there are many different methods that are reported to work for removing the scars, many people opt for an acne scar natural treatment.

Acne scars come in four general shapes. Ice pick scars are probably one of the most common but they also come in shapes that have descriptive names such as boxed scars, rolling scars and hypertrophic scars. One of the most common types of these treatments is a topical skin cream.

Topical skin creams for acne scar removal are available both in natural forms and medicated forms. The medicated creams are generally ones that are not used by those who are looking for a natural treatment.

In fact, most acne scar natural treatment options are mixed up using common products that can be found around the home as well as some that are picked up at the local health food and supplements store. These have the benefit of treating your acne scars naturally without any side effects that can often be found in a medical treatment.

The Eight Stages of Acne

Let's begin with Stage 0. Yes, there is a zero level. Zero doesn't even qualify as real acne. The occasional zit that appears on the face, neck, or back isn't pleasant and these occasional zits do seem to have a way of appearing at the most inopportune times imaginable. But the occasional zit doesn't even qualify as the mildest strain of acne. You can't call it acne - it is simply an inconvenience that will go away.

Stage 1 Acne: Whiteheads and blackheads are recurring, and there is some inflammation in the acne. This level of acne can be treated with over-the-counter products that contain benzoyl peroxide. This is no big deal, and permanent scarring is very unlikely.

Stage 2 Acne: When papules are present, the acne is considered to be at the next level. Papules are solid, raised skin lesions that are usually small in size. The treatment is still available over the counter. Look for products that contain salicylic acid.

Stage 3 Acne: This is much like stage 2 acne, except that the occurrences are more frequent. At-home treatment is still advised.

Stage 4-5 Acne: It's time to see a dermatologist. Pustules appear indicating infection.

Stage 6-7 Acne: There are still blackheads and whiteheads present. There are pustules still present, but now there are nodules and cysts. Scarring is going to result if something isn't done immediately.

Stage 8: There are no longer periods of breakouts. Acne is constantly active and scarring is almost a certainty.

The good news is that acne can be treated, and even if scarring does occur, there are treatments available to remove acne scars.
