Help Get Rid of Acne By Stimulating Blood Flow

To help get rid of your acne, pimples and cysts, a good blood supply to your skin is required. This has been known for a long time and indeed, hot and cold contrasting baths have been used as a therapy for thousands of years. So, to alternate cold and warm water baths, during a therapy period, it is believed that this will increase circulation to the skin of the face, back and chest. Thus helping clear and heal acne spots, pimples and preventing acne scarring, the most dreaded of acne clinical outcomes. Stimulating blood flow will help treat acne, acne scars and will be useful to add to your existing treatments of acne.

Acne, small pimples, cysts and boils will have damaged the tissues, causing the blood vessels to be torn or damaged. The extent of bleeding, will depend on the tissues involved. Blood will flow out until the vessels are restricted (closed), so preventing further blood leaking into the tissues. It is crucial to stop bleeding into tissues, as the blood may act to increase inflammation, and so must be 'washed' from the tissues before the healing process can properly start.

Just to explain - the tissues lacking nourishment from the blood due to injury will soon die off. These dying tissues stimulate the release, of a chemical, called histamine, causing the blood vessels to open up, thereby bringing increased blood and associated nutrients to help repair the damaged tissues. During this phase of increased but slower and more viscous blood supply, the blood vessel walls become much more permeable and require heat to promote the blood flow.

This is where our hot and cold water therapy can help us.

What you require are two bowls of water, one cold and the other hot, and a few towels.

The use of hot and cold baths is as follows:

Dip one towel into the hot water and apply to the skin for a few minutes
Then pat dry
Dip another towel into the cold water and apply to the skin for a few minutes
Then pat dry

Repeat this process for about five - ten minutes until you see the skin change colour and glow. The whole process can be repeated several times a day. Your skin will feel fresh and invigorated. To really complete the process, then apply a face pack of honey. Your skin will then feel silky smooth and the healing process will be boosted.

Use the hot and cold therapy sensibly and if the skin is sore or broken, then wait for skin to heal before commencing this therapy.

The physiological effects of hot-cold water contrast baths for acne skin treatment have been used for years, but its physiological rationale for enhancing tissue recovery in acne is less known. Most experimental evidence suggests that hot-cold water application helps to reduce injury in the acute stages, through blood vessel opening and and closing thereby stimulating blood flow thus reducing swelling. This shunting action of the blood caused by opening and closing of blood vessels may be one of the mechanisms to removing skin waste products, repairing the skin tissues and slowing/preventing the acne scarring. So, here is a very useful skin healing treatment, please try it, you won't be disappointed.
