Cheer Up - Acne Scars Can Be Removed Forever

Depending on the type of acne you have the scars can range from mild to severe, with the latter being a bit more difficult to be removed, but there are some creams such as coco butter which is a good remedy for removing scars. It is also used for removing stretch marks after childbirth, and also for lightening the skin. Usually in mild cases of scarring these scars would fade away on their own with time.

For those serious cases of scarring, one form of treatment is laser resurfacing which is generally done by a dermatologist. Basically what the laser does is remove the top damaged layer of the skin and tightens the middle layer, leaving the skin with a smoother looking effect. This procedure can be somewhat painful, so a local anesthesia has to be used to numb the area of the skin that is going to be treated. The length of this procedure can vary from a few minutes to maybe even an hour, depending on the severity of scarring, and it usually takes anywhere from three to ten day for the skin to heal properly.

Another method is dermabrasion, which is a high speed brush or a spinning diamond instrument used to remove surface skin and change the form of the scars. What this procedure does is it wears down the first layer of skin surface and as the healing process takes place a new layer of skin is formed replacing the first layer leaving the skin looking much smoother. Unlike the laser resurfacing procedure which heals in about three to ten days, this procedure takes much longer and it can be anywhere between ten days to up to three weeks. Both of these procedures leave your skin red and irritable for months.

Two other types of treatments that are commonly used today are Collagen injection and Autologous Fat transfer; both these procedures are done with injections. In the Collagen procedure a normal substance of the body is injected under the skin to "stretch" certain types of superficial and deep soft scars. The autologous fat transfer is similar to the collagen injection, whereby fat is taken from another part on your own body and is injected beneath the surface of the skin to lift depressed scars. This procedure must be repeated because of the way the fat is reabsorbed into the skin over a long period, and in order to achieve longer lasting results this procedure would have to be performed multiple times.
