How to Treat Acne Scars at Home

Acne scars are a pain, they really are. Therefore you're probably interested in a way to treat them properly. You can either go and get surgery or other harsh treatments done, or you can treat acne scars at home using products that you find in your local pharmacy or supermarket. In some situations you might even need to go on the internet but that's probably not a problem for someone like you, eh?

Anyway, enough chat, here's how to treat acne scars at home.

The most effective home solution is to assist the skin in it's exfoliation process. This means that the skin is removed with either a chemical or something more natural (technically everything's a chemical, but I'll ignore that, eh). One of the most effective home treatments for acne include chemical peels. These are chemicals that are applied to a pad and are then put onto the affected area. The chemical irritates the skin and causes it to peel off. The peel sticks to the skin and removes it that way.

Sounds like it hurts? Well it's not quite as bad as you might think but it can certainly sting a bit. Chemical peels are probably the fastest home treatment that you can buy locally.

You might also want to try silicone. It's certainly not as nasty as the chemical strips and it is also fairly effective. Silicone is applied to your skin either with a sheet or as a gel. Scientists don't exactly know how silicone works to reduce the appearance of acne scarring, two popular theories include increasing moisture in the skin or using the static charge of the silicon to align the collagen fibers that are in the skin.

Regardless of how silicone works, it is an effective scarring home treatment. If people ask me how to treat acne scars at home then these are the two methods that I usually suggest that people try.

The only disadvantage is cost. These treatments are not the cheapest options out there. They cost quite a bit per treatment and while they are certainly much much less then getting surgery done, they will still set you back a few hundred dollars depending on what brand you end up getting. If you're really keen to reduce the scarring though then you'll be pleased to know that these two in home treatments are about as effective as you can get. Enjoy.
