Acne Scarring Does Not Have to Be Permanent

Statistics report that some 15 million American's have some form of acne scarring. These are varying in degree of severity of course. some people may have mild scarring or discoloration. However some people are left with appalling scarring of the skin on their face. It is enough that the appearance is disfiguring, but the adverse psychological effects have the most overwhelming consequences. Acne scarring represents ugliness and is socially unacceptable.

Studies have suggested that these people suffer terribly on a social level. The self esteem is effected to such a degree that people can and do become socially isolated. Many people have a hard time holding down jobs, forming relationships, and have a tendency to blame all that is wrong in their lives on their physical appearance.

Dermal Fillers. This is a popular treatment commonly for wrinkle reduction and lip fullness. However it works well with minimizing scar tissue by injecting collagen underneath depressed scar tissue to raise the area up to the level of healthy skin. This is effective temporary remedy, but unfortunately have to be repeated frequently as the collagen tends to dissipate in the body over time.
Punch excision. Surgery is used for scars that are very deep and don't respond to conventional methods. Punch excision is a method of surgery that utilizes a punch biopsy tool to "punch out" the scar tissue and the skin is sutured back together. In time healthy skin will replace the area of the old scar tissue.
