Treatment for Acne Scars to Give You Clear, Smooth Skin Again

If you have severe acne scarring it can be difficult to treat. When a person has suffered acne and is left with terrible scarring they often think that they have to live with how they look, but in actual fact there are some methods of acne scar treatment that are quite effective at removing scarring.

The treatment option you choose may depend on the severity of your scars. Here are some of the different treatments available:

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a treatment that sands down the skin using an abrasive material or instrument. This results in the top, damaged layer of skin being removed and the new, smooth skin underneath appearing. You will see a reduction in the visibility of scars after the first treatment.

Sometimes following a microdermabrasion treatment the skin may feel and look sunburned and may take a week or so to fade after which time you will see smooth, new skin.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are also a very effective acne scar treatment. This involves using a chemical solution that peels off the top layers of skin. This treatment needs to be performed by a specialist and the type of chemical solution used may depend on the specific skin type. The results are similar to those of microdermabrasion.

Laser Treatment

Laser treatment removes the top layer of skin using a special layer and then the undamaged skin underneath surfaces. When the damaged skin is destroyed, the new, fresh skin is exposed. Laser treatment is very effective and you will see results after the first treatment. Recovery from laser treatment can take a few days as the new layer of skin needs to heal.

There are other treatments available such as plastic surgery and filler treatment, but these are much more invasive and can be very expensive. I would recommend trying any of the above procedures before considering these more invasive procedures.

There are also a number of natural therapies, including creams, lotions and face masks that can reduce the visibility of scarring and in mild cases can even remove acne scars.

Just because you suffered from acne does not mean that you have to suffer from the scars that it leaves you. You can have smooth, clear skin again by treating your skin with any of these methods.

There are many different options and you need to choose the right acne scar treatment to suit your needs. I would recommend trying a natural treatment first before any invasive and expensive treatments.
