How to Treat Acne Scars Effectively - Simple and Practical Solutions

The problem of acne has been troubling generations for a long time now. However, in spite of all the advances in medicines for treating acne, one often comes across a troubled teenager frustrated and in despair.

However, even if acne and pimples are effectively removed, they often leave behind disgusting patches and scars all over the face and this is also the trickier part - treating acne and pimple scars. The scars that are usually left behind are too stubborn to be removed easily and require greater attention, perhaps more than any other phase of an acne treatment. The solutions for treating acne scars are many and these range from natural remedies, medicinal remedies or directly, cosmetic surgeries. However, the safest though longest approach to acne treatment is through natural remedies as they are highly safe and convenient. Cosmetic procedures on the other hand are very swift in acting but have a larger loss as these can be quite expensive. To treat yourself for acne scars, it is highly recommended that you consult a professional dermatologist.

Cosmetic procedures of acne scar removal

Scars caused by acne can be improved by beveling the edges if they are not the deep-pitted "ice pick" type, although the abrasion may have to be repeated several times to achieve a skin surface that approaches normal in appearance. It is not always possible to estimate the depth of the scars, and therefore the results are not usually predictable. Dermabrasion can also be done to smooth fine wrinkles, especially of the upper lip. Because elevated levels of estrogen affect the pigmentation of the skin, the procedure should not be done on a woman who takes estrogen as replacement therapy or as a contraceptive.

The procedure can be done under local anesthesia or by topical refrigeration ( spraying on a solution that freezes the skin surface), but because dermabrasion takes a long time, many patients elect to have general or supplementary intravenous anesthesia. Most surgeons prefer to work on the entire face in order to blend margins at the hairline and beneath the jaw line. If spotty areas are done, blotches of depigmented skin may result. Sandpaper or a rotary diamond fraise or a rotary wire brush may be used.

Evidently, these cosmetic surgeries and treatments are highly effective in treating scars and blemishes caused by acne but are quite pricey. If you cannot afford them, equally effective alternate solutions are always available which you can find out through people who have gone through these treatments or through medical professionals.
