How Dermatologists Can Help Remove Acne Scars

Acne is something that most teenagers and young adults have to deal with through our their lives. It's something hideous and embarrassing that can take anyone's confidence and self pride away. But not only can acne affect the lives of the people when it first appears, but acne can cause horrible scarring and pits in the skin where a person is prone to have break outs. The scars can cause embarrassment and make someone feel ugly for the rest of their lives.

There are different types of acne scars that can appear. Such as depressed acne scars, that usually are known as pits. For centuries, dermatologists have tried to find a way to successfully and safely remove the depressed scars, but only recently with the advances in medicine, are there options to remove these embarrassing flaws. You can choose from acne scar surgery, laser skin resurfacing, fillers, or chemical peels. All these options are safe and have been proven to be very effective. Surgery takes longer to heal and see the improvement and you go through a bit more. There are different types of surgeries and the whole purpose of the scar surgery is to remove a large scar and replace it with a smaller, less noticeable scar. With laser skin resurfacing, you have a lot less time of healing, but most people will return to their normal lives and activities within two weeks. These procedures makes wounds, but they heal pretty quickly and you return back to yourself a lot quicker then surgery patients. Some dermatologists who want to get the best results possible will combine surgery and laser procedures. Fillers are popular because they show immediate results. The downfall is that the fillers are usually temporary. The chemical peels are usually a part of the treatment and is not used alone. Chemical peels will cause the skin to peel, making your new skin come out.

There are also raised acne scars, the two types are keloid and hypertrophic scars. The treatments are a lot like the depression acne scars, with laser and surgery treatments, but you can also use types of gels and creams that can help as well. Cyrotherapy is used, as well. This treatment freezes the scar tissue. The downfall is that the skin will turn a lighter shade, causing anyone with color in their skin to not want to choose cyrotherapy.

No matter what you choose as your treatment, you always have to keep in mind that just like scarring is different for every person, the treatment will have different results on every person Acne scar removal can cause different reactions and may work on one person, but then may not work on someone else. Also, you have to keep treating your skin even after the treatment is done. You have to make sure you do not expose yourself to the sun much and protect your skin with sunscreen every single day, even if you are going to be out long enough to get into your car and then back out, then you need to make sure you have sunscreen applied twenty minutes before you go outside.

Before you have to worry about acne scar removal treatments, you should try to prevent severe acne by taking care of your skin and make sure to use proper washing and daily hygiene practices. You should see a dermatologist while you are having acne break outs and try to help you figure out a way to prevent your acne to becoming severe.

Always trust your dermatologist, whether it is treatment for acne scars, or preventing you from having severe acne, have an open communication, always ask questions you have, and remember that your dermatologist is there to help you.
