Acne Scar Removal - The Final Hurdle To Get Your Confidence Back - IPL And Microdermabrasion

Acne scar removal is sometimes seen as the final hurdle in the race against acne, regaining your confidence and looking good.

People contend with this common skin disease throughout their lives and just when you think you've battled the worst, the scars remain.

A constant reminder of the torturous years of fighting acne, scars are left behind when the skin attempts to heal itself from a bout of this common skin disease. Just like normal scars when we fall and wound ourselves, the skin takes time to heal and the scars will take a long time to fade without assistance.

Acne scar removal treatments, such as IPL (intense pulsed light therapy) and microdermabrasion, can help speed up the acne scar fading process. These natural treatments revitalise the skin and promote a healthy complexion, pushing you that little bit closer to having the clear skin that you deserve.

Cameron Diaz, Victoria Beckham and even Brad Pitt have all fallen victim to the perils of adult acne, as well as being 'papped' on their off days. Yet they exude a confidence so grand that it proves that acne and the resulting scars can be beaten.

How the treatments work:

1. IPL (intense pulsed light treatment)

The area to be treated is covered in a special optical gel, which acts to keep the area cool while enabling the transmission of light into the skin. A light applicator is pressed against the skin and a short pulse of high-energy light is emitted treating all blemishes in an area of 5cm2. The applicator is then moved to an adjacent area and the process is repeated until all the affected areas have been treated. The gel is then removed and aloe vera is applied. Eye protection is worn for the duration of the procedure and in some circumstances a topical cooling method may be applied to the treated area the client's comfort.

2. Microdermabrasion

Prior to treatment the area is thoroughly cleaned with a gentle cleansing solution. Each treatment then involves passing a 'wand' over the area to be treated, which emits crystals that loosen dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. The dead skin cells and crystal are simultaneously vacuumed away in a process that massages the skin in a manner designed to improve circulation, promote new cell growth and benefit the lymphatic system. The treatment provides a thorough exfoliation and the high vacuum unblocks congested pores.

Unique 3rd generation microdermabrasion machines can work at pitted scars without abrading the skin by switching off the flow of crystal. The suction created stretches the connective tissue that has become shortened in the scarring process. With time this overcomes the 'memory' the skin has of the scar and the skin regains a smoother texture.

Clients are usually treated in clinics on a case by case basis, because not everyone's acne and scarring is the same, which provides a professional personal service. Both treatments require zero downtime, so clients can normally resume their daily activities upon leaving the clinic.
