The Most Dangerous Methods of Acne Scar Removal

Acne scars are something that can be very difficult to live with. Already having acne can be bad enough but having to endure the remnants of acne long gone can be downright embarrassing. Acne scars are most commonly caused by one constantly popping and picking at their acne. If you want to prevent acne scars the best thing you can do is to never, ever touch, pop, pick, lance or squeeze your acne. For those who have severe acne scars there are several procedures that have proven to be quite effective when it comes to acne scar reduction. CO2 Laser surgery, chemical peels and soft-tissue augmentation. All of these procedures are commonly used and are quite efficient at acne scar removal but they are not without some serious consequences.

CO2 Laser Surgery involves using a high powered laser to bore microscopic holes in the skin around the scarred area. The idea being that a scar is a wound and that if you cause enough trauma to the skin, it will begin to heal itself there by removing scars. Laser surgery can run anywhere between $1000 and $5000 and can keep you out of commission for at least a week with side effects ranging from redness, irritation, inflammation, peeling, tenderness, swelling, sensitivity to sunlight and sores at the affected area. There is usually a follow up appointment in which you made need another procedure, depending on how bad the scarring is. If you feel that you can afford it and have the time to undergo one of these procedures as well as being able to tolerate seven to ten days of irritating side effects than I guess laser surgery is for you.

Another common but dangerous method of acne scar removal are chemical peels. Chemical peels are essentially chemical "mask" comprised of various harsh and potent chemicals that burn away at the top layer of skin until it is able to be pulled off. This chemical burn causes the skin to jumpstart into "healing" mode and begins the process of cellular regeneration therefore removing acne scars. Chemical peels can cost about $700 to $1000 and can be done at any spa or salon and more recently in home kits. Chemical peels have side effects ranging from severe irritation, inflammation, sensitivity to light, painful sores, and redness that can last for up to a week. The main problem I have with chemical peels is that you're putting harmful chemicals on your face in order to burn your skin away, it just seems absurd to me.

Artificial collagen injections or soft-tissue augmentation is another popular method of scar removal that involves injecting artificial collagen fillers in to the affected area. Similar to Botox (which for those who do not know is the most toxic substance known to mankind) these collagen injections can vary in price from a couple hundred to a couple thousand dollars. Some serious complications can arise such as the collagen not taking to the skin and forming granulomas that appear as lumps under the skin. Other side effects include irritation at the site of injection, bruising, temporary paralysis of the tissue, swelling and tenderness. Soft-tissue augmentation requires an animal or synthetic based collagen being injected under the skin in order to effectively "plump" the depressed area.

These procedures, though effective are not worth the potential long term and instant side effects when there's much safer alternatives to acne scar removal. There are many all natural scar fading creams, treatments and home remedies that have been proven to work at the cellular level to stimulate the regeneration of healthy skin cells. Consider an all natural acne scar cream that's made with Collaxyl, an all natural peptide based compound that basically tells the skin to start healing parts that no longer receive that "heal me now" message thus bridging the gap between acne scars.

There are countless safe, all natural proven methods of acne scar reduction. Talk to a dermatologist or friends and family and see if anyone can recommend an all natural method of removing acne scars that may have worked for them or one that has good reviews. Search online for acne cream reviews and do as much research as you can. Avoid these surgeries and procedures; they're just not worth it. Unless you feel that they're the only option, remember that they can potentially cause more harm than good. So keep it natural and remove you acne scars the way mother nature intended you to.
