Acne Laser Treatment - The Truth

So here's the truth about acne laser treatment. Is it worth the thousands of dollars, hours of pain, weeks of recuperating with a swollen face that's even worse than the acne you started with, and at the end of it all, ending up with an empty wallet and no noticeable difference? Of course it's not.

Laser acne treatment is usually prescribed for the later stages of acne, when it appears that scars may form around particularly severely affected areas. Generally, the idea of the laser is to do exactly what you might imagine lasers are for, and just what they're used for in the movies - blasting the scars off your face. To do this, they essentially burn off the top few layers of skin, encouraging new skin to regrow without the scar tissue.

The problem is, the laser acne treatment can cause scarring by itself. While you might remove the acne scars, you might end up with laser scars instead.

The other time when acne laser treatment is prescribed is for some special cases which may respond well, depending on the cause of the condition. The laser is aimed at the acne to destroy any bacteria on the face, back or neck which are causing the acne to develop. Once the bacteria are dead, the theory is that the acne will clear up on it's own.

Again, there's a problem with this approach. Firstly as we mentioned above the laser can cause scarring, secondly not all acne is caused by bacterial infections, and thirdly there's nothing to stop the bacteria coming back and so you have to get your wallet out once more and back down to the laser clinic for more expensive treatments.

Although acne laser treatment is hyped up by the media and those selling it, the reality is that it should only be used as an absolute last resort in severe and special cases, and only then by qualified and experienced professionals with a proven track record for your safety.

A much better approach to curing acne is with all natural methods. They're cheaper, easier to apply, safer, with no risk of scarring and you can do it yourself in your home in your own time. Natural methods for curing acne have a long and well researched track record, and a high success rate. If you're considering laser treatment for acne, put it off for just a bit longer and try going natural for a bit first.
