Preventing Acne Scarring

OK, I'll be honest with you. If you have no acne but you have the scarring then you probably want to look elsewhere. If however you currently have acne and you want to reduce the effects of later scarring then keep on reading.

The harsh truth about acne scarring is that prevention is way better then cure. You can spend hundreds of dollars on scar removal and that's the end of it. If you currently have acne then you need to learn how to reduce the effects of later scarring. Therefore, please follow these simple rules:

No touching! This is probably the most important. Touching, squeezing or shaving off (blokes) your acne scars will cause issues later. You know how wounds create a scab of sorts to protect itself from further damage? Well, that's what's happening here. Touching and popping acne irritates the skin and makes it more likely to hang around permanently.

Drink water. Everyone says it but who actually does drink enough water, really? In fact even if people think they're drinking enough it doesn't mean that they are. People say eight glasses, but you can drink more then that safely. When you get up in the morning, just drinking 700mls to a liter can make a huge difference to your day. Yes, you'll need to visit the bathroom a little more then average but that's a side effect that's welcome. Drinking water removes toxins that your skin tries to remove.

Wash it. Washing your face twice a day will dramatically lessen the effects of acne. And if you do have acne, boil up a kettle and dip a cotton bud in it. Applying very hot water directly to the acne is an excellent way to lessen the appearance and beat the acne down. This technique is even more effective when you apply a natural antiseptic such as tea tree oil immediately afterwards. This is an excellent way to reduce the appearance of a single acne zit.

As I said, prevention is way better then cure. If you have acne right now, please please please attend to it. Don't just think that it will go away on it's own. It will... but at want cost later? And do remember NO TOUCHING. This is the single most important thing that I can tell you. Seriously. I know it's fun, but train yourself out of that habit to lessen your future chances of acne scarring.
