No More Acne, What of the Scars?

It would be great here to heartily rejoice with those who have successfully found the right products and have finally gotten rid of Acne. But what about the scars?

Is life always so full of problems? I get rid of Acne now I need to start trying to clear the scars. Take heart. It is a very attainable quest. Like with your treatment of Acne, you are safest consulting your dermatologist for guidance. Having said that, there is no harm in knowing some facts.

You have a couple of options available to you. These include:
Laser Resurfacing, Subcision, Chemical peel, Punch Technique, Augmentation and Dermabrasion to name a few.

Laser resurfacing- This is a quite popular technique that involves the use of laser in removing the top layer of the skin (and much of the scar in the process). This allows new skin to grow, covering the scars. With this treatment, one has to strictly adhere to the post-laser skin care program. This is to avoid a resurfacing of the scars.

Subcision: This is effective for sunken Acne scars as it involves breaking up the fibrous bands that is the causative factor in sunken acne scars raising the scarred region to the level of the rest of the skin.

Chemical peel: For scarring that is not severe, this might be a good option. The application of a Chemical solution to the skin causes the scarred skin to blister and peel off, a new skin then grows in its place.

Punch Technique: This is a surgical procedure and is done under local anesthesia. A punch tool is used to remove the scar and the skin is stitched back together. It still leaves a scar howbeit less noticeable.

Augmentation: The aim of this technique is to raise the scarred region to the level of the rest of the skin and this is done by injecting the region with fat or collagen. After being raised, it becomes less noticeable.

Dermabration: This is an effective technique especially for raised scars. It however a painful process as it involves the use a fast rotating brush in removing the top layer of the skin and scar. It involves a long recovery time.

The above listed treatments of course involves different requirements like cost, time, post treatment care and recovery time. The different treatments also have specific situation in which they are most effective. Therefore, it is very necessary to do some research to find out the options available to you compared with your budget, available time and the kind of scarring you have. It is always a safer option to consult a specialist.

You do not have to live with Acne scars. They are very curable and the options available are not all that far fetched. Seek and you would find an option that would help restore your skin to a healthy, younger looking, Acne and scar free skin.
